Milly Alcock plays a young Rhaenyra Targaryen on HBO’s House of the Dragon.

The anecdote comes from a promotional video on the official HBO Max YouTube. channelwhere Alcock and co-star Matt Smith play a game of “Meet Me”.

Smith asked Alcock when she found out she had been cast on the show and how she reacted when she heard the news.

Alcock revealed that she found out she was cast as Rhaenyra Targaryen while cooking dinner at a friend’s house.

“Obviously I couldn’t tell anyone that I was auditioning for [the show.] I got a phone call and I sat outside and my agent said, ‘Are you sitting?’”

After being told the good news by her agent, Alcock quietly freaked out in her friend’s backyard before going back inside.

She then asked if her friend had a bottle of wine. “He did it so I… got drunk.”

Without missing a beat, Smith responded by saying, “Amazing… a woman after my own heart.”

The rest of the interview continues with the couple asking each other other questions, such as whether they took anything home from the set or who their favorite Game of Thrones characters are.

It’s clear from Alcock’s anecdote that she was thrilled to be added to the star-studded cast of House of the Dragon, but only time will tell what the future of the series has in store for fans.
