3DS / Wii U: First new updates released in 2022, this is in there

Both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U received their first system updates in 2022.

While the Wii U is thereby upgraded to version number 5.5.6 U, the 3DS gets version number 11.16.0-48.

This is what the new updates offer

What the new updates offer can be explained superficially relatively quickly: More stability!

Or as Nintendo puts it, “Other improvements to overall system stability and other minor tweaks have been made to increase usability.”

More on the subject:

Dataminer OatmealDome took a look behind the scenes again and noticed a few small changes.

On the 3DS, for example, there are minor adjustments to the eShop, the internet browser and some other areas. Meanwhile, some menu and settings changes have been made on the Wii U.

From next year, both devices will have to do without their eShop, because from March 27, 2023 you will no longer be able to make purchases on Wii U and 3DS. Demos and other things can no longer be downloaded either.

As of yesterday, credit can no longer be added using an eShop card, but existing download codes can still be redeemed up to the date just mentioned.
