FIFA 23: faux pas! Latest offshoot already playable one month before release

Play a game before everyone else. That dream recently went for beta testers of FIFA 23 (from 69.98€ at pre-order) who have preloaded the Xbox Ultimate Edition of the game. So these could be loud Eurogamer Access all modes, including Ultimate Team, a month before the game officially launches on PC, last-gen and next-gen consoles. Now EA has commented on Twitter about the extremely unfortunate circumstances for them.

“Yesterday we inadvertently gave a small number of players access to a two-hour trial of the Xbox One version of FIFA 23 that shouldn’t be available yet. Not all content was final. We’ve removed that access and are ready to help everyone at launch to welcome in September.”, it says from the official side.

It is currently unclear whether those lucky players will no longer have the opportunity to access offline content. According to Eurogamer, access to the career mode, among other things, is still possible.

The (un)lucky wave takes its course

This wasn’t the first faux pas that EA has been able to afford in recent weeks with its new kicker simulator. A few weeks ago, happy fans of the cult series, to the chagrin of the publisher giant, had the opportunity to pre-order the title in the Indian Epic Games Store for a mere 6 cents – more about that here.

EA is now trying hard to take action against leaked content that is making the rounds due to the error. But the internet doesn’t forget and so those interested could already catch a glimpse of player ratings or new jerseys.

Fifa 23 will be released on September 30th for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S as well as Stadia and Switch. Owners of the Ultimate Edition are already allowed to go on grass on September 27th, but this time without receiving a red card from EA.
