Apex Legends modder creates revival shield Lifeline has been dying for Dexerto

Lifeline has been out of the meta ever since her revive shield was removed, but an Apex Legends modder has shown us what a balanced but buffed passive could look like.

The last few seasons have been difficult for the protagonists of Lifeline. Ever since the revive passive shield was removed from her, this legend has certainly fallen out of favor.

Her pick rate from season 14 still puts her at #10 in Apex, but having a 4.2% pick rate is a far cry from what she achieved in the first few seasons. Not to mention, her pro game pick rate is almost zero.

However, an Apex Legends modder has shown us what a more balanced iteration of his long-lost revive shield could look like.

Lifeline principals want their revival shield back

After the Season 9 Lifeline nerfs that removed her revive shield, Lifeline mains have long been begging to get her old passive back.

Despite the numerous benefits of her ultimate, heal drones, and passive revive, the removal of Lifeline’s main gameplay mechanic has left many disappointed.

That said, there is a reason this mechanic was removed. One of the most upvoted posts of all time on the Apex Legends subreddit shows Lifeline using her shield to get 1v3s, and this is from prior to Lifeline’s drone automatically revived teammates while putting up an unwavering defense.

She was really strong, but that doesn’t mean this mechanic couldn’t be balanced.

Twitter User and Lifeline Principal Kral Rindo posted some modified Apex Legends images of what a more balanced passive Lifeline might look like. Instead of having unlimited health, this proposed shield would have 300 HP.

Mad Maggie’s ultimate would instantly destroy this shield, and 300 health wouldn’t last long in a firefight.

However, considering that Newcastle’s Tactical is essentially Lifeline’s shield but better, it can be hard to justify bringing Lifeline back to a skin justifiably removed from her old team.

The same Twitter user who posted the altered images also mocked Newcastle for essentially “stealing” their old passive.

The Lifeline mainnet has been asking for some kind of shield for this character since the S9 nerf, with the Apex Legends modder. Archtux showing what this shield would look like if it was on his tactic instead of his passive.

While it’s a shame Lifeline isn’t at the top of the pick rating charts like it used to be, keeping her iconic revival shield out of the game may be for the best.
