Steam Deck Repair Centers are now open

The Steam Deck is quite an expensive device that you may have to wait several months for. Of course, it’s particularly annoying when the deck is damaged in any way. Scratches on the display can already cause frustration, but when the Steam Deck completely dies, the frustration is great.

Have Steam Deck repaired by Valve itself now

So far, skilled users could only rely on the repair kits, spare parts and instructions iFixit abandoned, but if you don’t dare to do the self-repair, you can now send your Steam Deck to Valve yourself. Like the company namely in one new post on Steam announced that Steam Deck Repair Centers are now open.

If there is an issue with the Steam Deck that requires repair or replacement, the unit is simply forwarded to one of the repair centers. Here, a team diagnoses the device and repairs it if necessary. If this is covered by the guarantee, the repair is completely free of charge. However, if the warranty does not apply, you will probably be contacted by Valve and offered a repair for a fee. However, out-of-warranty repair service is optional.

Valve describes in the post which situations are covered by the warranty. For example, if input problems occur with the Steam Deck, the affected key will be replaced at the repair center free of charge, the device will be recalibrated and sent back. However, if your own pet nibbles and damages the analog stick, a repair is offered at an additional cost.
