Ubisoft has just announced as part of the stream event on the occasion of 15 years of the series Assassin’s Creed miracle officially introduced. Mirage is set 20 years before the events of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla settled, but in a completely different corner of the world. You play the character known from Valhalla, Basim Ibn Is’haq, who lives in Baghdad as a street thief and joins the Assassin Brotherhood (“the hidden ones” in Alamut) after they save him.

Alongside Basim’s mentor Roshan (played by, among others, The Expanse well-known actress Shohreh Aghdashloo) there will be other important NPCs in the story, including Basim’s childhood friends. A meet & greet with famous political rulers of the time should not be missed during historical sightseeing. In doing so, Basim must also confront his tragic past and nightmarish visions (anyone who has progressed far in the history of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla can imagine what the latter is all about).

Ubisoft Bordeaux is responsible for the new Assassin’s Creed, yes Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Wrath of the Druids has been responsible for. A narrative action-adventure is planned, which is supposed to be a “homage to the series and especially the first part”. Typical GamersGlobal readers will cringe when told that this will be a “charismatic protagonist’s coming-of-age story,” but may be drawn in by the prospect of a “majestic open city” and “modernized legacy gameplay” reassure.

Playfully, Mirage breaks with the realignment of the series Assassin’s Creed Origins and dispenses with RPG elements. Instead, as in previous parts, the focus is on pursuing assassination targets and stealth is a central game element. With Assassin Apprentice Basim you have various tools such as mines and blowguns at your disposal and if guards spot you, you will be told more precisely who is tracking you and how far away they are. In terms of level design, the Baghdad location with its four districts will also be more geared towards using the parcour system, which should feel faster than in previous parts.

However, there are also elements of later parts in Mirage, so with Enkidu you again have a feathered companion who is said to be important as a scout for effective sneaking in Mirage – however, there will also be (optionally) special archers among the enemies who target Enkidu . In addition, Basim has mastered a new assassin focus technique, with which he marks several enemies and then kills them with the push of a button – this is reminiscent of a similar feature in Assassin’s Creed – Brotherhood (or also later parts of Splinter Cell). The mission design in the main assassinations should offer you several ways to eliminate the target.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be released in 2023 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S | X and the streaming service Amazon Luna, which is not yet available in Germany. And, as can’t be otherwise for a large-scale production these days: pre-orderers are lured with a bonus quest called “The Forty Thieves”, in which you explore Ali Baba’s legendary treasure cave.

In addition, Ubisoft teased at the event four other Assassin’s Creed games that are in development: The next “flagship title” after Assassin’s Creed Mirage will have the working title Assassin’s Creed codename RED developed by Ubisoft Quebec, it should continue Valhalla’s games-as-a-service tendencies. Assassin’s Creed codename WITCH is then already the game after next, it should be created by Ubisoft Montreal. and Assassin’s Creed codename INFINITY should combine all possible series parts and other clutter and offer a multiplayer mode. Assassin’s Creed codename JADE finally aims to be a mobile RPG action-adventure set in ancient China.
