The new studio of former Uncharted author Amy Hennig has been working on a new Marvel adventure for several years. Now we finally got our first sneak peek at the upcoming title that puts us in the shoes of Captain America and Black Panther.

The game still hasn’t got an official name, but at least we were able to admire the Marvel’s Captain America & Black Panther title in a short CGI trailer that revealed a bit about the setting and the characters. You can see it for yourself here:

Here’s what we already know about the game: The darkly atmospheric trailer doesn’t show much of our heroes yet, but at least some information is already available. The setting of the game is supposed to be World War II and the tracking shot from the trailer gives an idea that Paris will be at least one of the game’s locations.

Four playable characters: The story is not intended to retell an existing story, but to become a completely new adventure. In total, we can take on the roles of four heroes that we control at certain points in the story:

  • Steve Rogers aka Captain America
  • Azzuri aka Black Panther and grandfather of T’Challa
  • Gabriel Jones, member of the Howling Commandos (Steve Rogers special forces)
  • Nanali, leader of the Wakanda spy network

In the trailer you can also guess that Captain America and Black Panther don’t seem to be on friendly terms. So it is quite possible that there will be at least one confrontation between the two parties. But since we can also catch a glimpse of a HYDRA file in the trailer, the Nazi organization could also become our main opponent.

Not much is known about the gameplay itself either. When it was announced last year, the title was simply described as a “story-focused blockbuster action-adventure.” We should also expect “intuitive controls and exciting gameplay”. We’ll have to wait and see what that means exactly.

No Co-op: As IGN also found out in an interview with Amy Hennig, the game will not offer a co-op mode. Narratively, it’s supposed to be about an alliance, but in terms of game mechanics, a single-player experience awaits us.

The Captain America & Black Panther game isn’t the only title Skydance New Media studio is currently working on. They have also already announced a new action-adventure game set in the Star Wars universe. This is the second Star Wars title Amy Hennig, who previously worked on the canceled RagTag project, is working on.
