The Rings of Power: Why the Isle of Númenor is so important in the Lord of the Rings saga

Amazon brings viewers into the new prequel series Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power back to Middle-earth and presents us with the realms of dwarves, elves and hobbits several centuries before the well-known LotR trilogy.

One of the new places represents the Island of Numenor dar, between Middle-earth and the Immortal Lands, the realm of the Elves, in Belegaer Ocean located. Sauron and the sinking of the island of Númenor

The Númenóreans were given special importance by the Elves in the fight against Melkor and his destruction. Melkor’s right hand lord Sauron wanted revenge and amassed a mighty army of orcs with the aim of destroying the elves, dwarves and men and plunging Middle-earth into dark doom. as Sauron’s power increasedhe was captured by the Númenóreans.

King Ar-Pharazôn of Númenor however, succumbed to Suggestions of Sauronwho poisoned him and aided his quest for power. His spirit rose later emerged from the floods and returned to Middle-earth to complete his sinister purpose. The rest should be known.
