Assassin’s Creed will soon be moving to PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, with individual titles still appearing on mobile.

Assassin’s Creed goes Next Gen – or rather Current Gen. That means: Only the next part called Assassin’s Creed Mirage will not only appear for PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, but also for PS4 and Xbox One. But after that it’s over, then the new AC parts will only be available for the newer generation of consoles that have been on the market for two years.

The future of Assassin’s Creed dispenses with PS4 and Xbox One

That’s what it’s about: Two years after the release of PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, many cross-gen titles are still appearing. This is mainly due to the fact that the newer consoles are still difficult to get hold of. But many big brands are slowly saying goodbye to the old guard, including Assassin’s Creed. But don’t worry, if you’re one of those who don’t yet own a PS5 or Xbox Series S/X, you can at least still play the next Assassin’s Creed on PS4 and Xbox One. Mirage will still appear as a cross-gen game in 2023.

Then it’s over: As Ubisoft has now confirmed to VGC, the games following AC Mirage will no longer be released for PS4 and Xbox One. This means that you can only play Assassin’s Creed Hexe and Assassin’s Creed codenamed Red on the current generation of consoles or PC and probably the Steam Deck.

“We wanted to mark a technological and gameplay shift by going completely next-gen. Or current-gen, as we like to call it now, with the PS5 and Xbox Series X.”

No big surprise: The PS4 and Xbox One have slowly but surely become obsolete. After all, the two consoles are getting on in years anyway and will be a proud ten years old when Assassin’s Creed: Red appears, which should probably be the case in 2024 at the earliest.

But besides AC Valhalla, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Codename Red and Codename Hexe, there are even two other Assassin’s Creed games. One of them is called Jade and is set in ancient China. The other is a still quite mysterious collaboration with Netflix. What is certain, however, is that the two titles will be released for iOS and Android.
