All 100 Icons in FIFA 23 have been announced. However, the list is missing some legendary names that won’t get an icon card in FIFA 23.

VANCOUVER, CANADA – FIFA 23 is about to release and EA is preparing for the end of September with big announcements. This time, the Vancouver-based developer has announced all the icons that will be found in FIFA 23 – the class of 23. There should be a total of 100 icons, but a full six icons from FIFA 22 cannot be found on the list. We show which icons will be removed from FIFA 23.

What happened? All icons in FIFA 23 are known. EA has on the official website Revealed the legendary players who receive an icon card in FIFA 23. 3 new icons for FIFA 23 have already been leaked, which are now confirmed by the Vancouver developer. That’s a total of 100 icon cards to choose from in FUT. But a closer look at the list shows that a total of six legendary footballers have lost their icon status.

These are the missing icons: It was to be expected that Diego Maradona would be absent from FIFA 23. After his death in November 2020 and a subsequent legal battle, Maradona was removed from FIFA 22. Although some leaks claim that the icon should be back in FIFA 23, there is no trace on the list. In the predecessor, everyone who drew him can enjoy Maradona – but he will probably be missing completely now. In the picture below you can see the other five missing icons.

Guardiola, Deco and Inzaghi will probably be missed by at least the fans. Their ratings have hardly been able to assert themselves among the other icons and were more SBC fodder. Giggs will also be gone in FIFA 23. While the Welsh Legend’s stats were a bit higher, there were some better options for this player as well. After a harassment scandal, Marc Overmars’ card was removed from FIFA 22 and will not have a place in FIFA 23 either.

Casillas and Cafu: First, it was leaked that Casillas and Cafu would also lose their icon status. The entries on the list were also missing on the EA side. The developer has submitted the two football icons, so it is now certain that Casillas and Cafu will appear in FIFA 23 as icon cards.

Although it was already known through a leak who the new icons would be, there was now official confirmation again. Gerd Müller, Xabi Alonso and Jairzinho are the new icons of FIFA 23. The ratings of the new icons are slightly controversial among fans. While Müller isn’t bad with an overall rating of 94, fans feel his legendary performances definitely deserved more. With a pace rating of 70, Alonso will be more useful for completing SBCs – he will hardly be really playable.

With a 92 overall rating and 94 pace, Jairzinho will likely be seen more often in Ultimate Team. As a 5-star-skiller, the Brazilian will be able to decide quite a few games on his own.
