Cod warzone 2 new map 2022

The new Battle Royale Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 was presented at the big event stream CoD Next. Over 200 streamers were there and were able to collect the first kills in the game. While many participants in the event are enthusiastic about the new Warzone, viewers remain divided.

What is there to know about the new Warzone? Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 will be released on November 16th, 2022 along with the first live season of Modern Warfare 2. The first map is called Al Mazrah:

A lot will change compared to the first Warzone, the gameplay will be significantly different. Here are a few of the most important changes:

  • No more loadout drops
    • You buy weapons at the buy stations or find them on the map. With cash you can improve the weapons, add attachments or you can buy your own weapons from the weapon smith.
  • No perks to start with
    • There are no passive abilities via perks from the buy station or as loot at the release.
  • New co-op gulag
    • You fight for your life in the Gulag 2vs2. There is also an “overseer” mechanic, an AI-controlled presence, but this has not yet been presented in detail.
  • Reworked board circle mechanics
    • At a certain point in the match, the playing field splits into several circles. At the end, the circles run together again to the final battlefield.
  • Proximity Chat
    • When using in-game chat, you can now hear nearby enemies also using chat.
  • MW2 Movement
    • Revised gameplay of the new CoDs: Slide-Cancel is no longer in the game, diving is possible, you can hang on edges.
  • More NPCs
    • The map is full of NPC enemies. Especially on locations marked as Stronghold. There is a lot more loot here. Also, an NPC faction is running across the map, a new source of danger.
  • water and vehicles
    • As in CoD MW2, water becomes the core feature. Swimming, underwater combat, boating – all part of Warzone 2.0. The vehicle mechanics have also been revised and offer more depth. By land and by sea.

First gameplay at CoD Next inspires streamers

Call of Duty invited over 200 streamers to CoD Next, who were allowed to do their first laps in Warzone 2.0 on site. The atmosphere at the event was extremely relaxed and many streamers were enthusiastic about the first rounds.

Victories were celebrated vigorously and hardly anyone had anything to complain about the extensive changes. As an example, we include a video from the German content creator and Warzone streamer “AimBrot”. The video shows his first round of Warzone 2.0 ever:

For the streamer, the new Battle Royale feels more fluid, less “clunky” than its predecessor, i.e. more modern and technically mature.

He also praised the better technology due to a more stable frame rate. At the end of the video he also talks about the map and finds that Al Mazrah – “so much better and nicer than Caldera in feel”.

However, AimBrot also has criticism and would like the loadout boxes back. For him, that was a fundamental gameplay element of Warzone and something that defined the game.

However, if you look at some of the content creators who were there, the majority are looking forward to getting their hands on Warzone 2.0 at launch.

Players remain skeptical about the innovations

A slightly different picture emerges on Reddit and Twitter, among the players who have not yet been allowed to lend a hand. Many are skeptical because of the extensive changes compared to its predecessor. The map isn’t well received by everyone either.

The most popular thread in the Warzone subreddit is the presentation of the map (2,300 upvotes / September 16, 07:00), but there is a lot of criticism of the structure (via reddit.com).

The most popular comment in the thread comes from user “alex1596”: “Oh god no, not another giant hill in the middle”. He’s referring to the “Peak” location of Caldera – a huge volcano in the middle of the map with a lot of influence on the dynamics of a match.

The missing loadout drops are also hotly debated. The Reddit thread for this has 1,200 upvotes and collected over 500 comments in just a few hours (via reddit.com). Most popular comment here: “They will bring them back if people don’t feel it” by No_Bar6825.

Opinions also differ under a tweet from the Warzone expert “JGOD”. JGOD asks: “What do you think about Warzone 2.0?”.

He himself is still unsure, the commentators are also divided. Some are convinced at first glance, others are disturbed by the drastic changes compared to the predecessor.

Many also only want to commit themselves when they have been able to do a lap themselves.

Warzone 2.0 will be released on November 16th as a Free2Play shooter and is based entirely on Modern Warfare 2 technology. The CoD of 2022 will be released on October 28th.
