WW1 Italian Front: Isonzo - Shooter in the First World War ready for Steam and Co.

from Sarah Petzold
The creators of the popular WWII shooters Verdun and Tannenberg have released their latest coup, Isonzo, on Steam and the Epic Games Store. The FPS title with the idiosyncratic setting on the Italian front of the First World War picks up where Verdun left off and focuses on realistic and tactical gameplay.

While major AAA studios are working on the WWII scenario, the developers at M2H are taking a different approach. They have specialized in the theaters of war of the First World War and want to offer their fans the most realistic and tactical gaming experience possible. Accordingly, the studio has long since created its own niche in the genre of first-person shooters with titles such as Verdun and Tannenberg. WW1 Italian Front: Isonzo is the third shooter in this setting and is available now on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Realistic tactical battles in the Alps of World War I

In Isonzo, players take on the role of a soldier from the warring factions Austria-Hungary or Italy, who fought a mountain war in the Eastern Alps during the years 1915-1918. These can take part in historical battles as part of the offensive game mode, with the landscapes and the course of the battles being faithfully modeled on the historical models.

The game, in which you can choose from a total of six different classes, places great value on tactics and realism, with the environment playing an important role. The ability to use 30 different World War I weapons, as well as build cover using sandbags and barbed wire, should open up many tactical possibilities. Poison gas attacks also occur.

The Steam user ratings are mostly positive shortly after the release. According to the fans, the game still suffers from a few balancing problems, which the developers should be able to fix with future updates. The number of players reached almost 5,000 simultaneous users at the peak, while Isonzo is currently in the top 30 of the Steam top sellers – quite a respectable success for such a niche title. WW1 Italian Front: Isonzo is available for €29.99 but is €3 off until September 20th.
