Sometime in 2023 it should be ready and you can in diablo 4 bash heaps of hellish hordes back into the underworld. After a big gameplay leak, Blizzard now has official news again regarding an endgame beta. More specifically, this testing phase will be closed in nature, meaning only selected players will be allowed to participate. And if you’re hoping to at least get some first-hand information, the company has to disappoint you: the beta content will be embargoed, so players aren’t allowed to give anything away.

But what exactly is there to play? Blizzard has already summarized some information for you on the official blog here, about game modes and content that you can try. Specifically, these are the following elements of Diablo 4:

  • hell flood: A cross-region event that can be contested from World Tier three, Nightmare difficulty. Here Lilith’s servants are stronger and more numerous, but of course there is much better loot. In addition, the game world should change purely visually, you continue to collect embers with which you can open special chests that contain blessings for a single item slot, such as the body, legs or two-handed weapons.
  • nightmare dungeons: These dungeons are opened by certain seals that activate special modifiers. As you complete the dungeons, there are even more seals that unlock even tougher challenges.
  • death whispers: The Whispering Tree sends you across the world, if you complete the Whisper tasks you will receive equipment, money and ghastly gifts. If you have collected ten of the latter, you can exchange them for new loot and experience at the tree.
  • fields of hatred: In these PVP zones, you must send demons to collect seeds of hatred. These can be ground into Red Dust, which you can exchange for visual rewards. However, other players can lie in wait for you and your subordinates to steal your seeds – but not the dust, which you can keep.
  • paragon panels: With this system, unlocked at level 50, you can use Paragon points to make your character even more powerful with new fields, sockets and other panels.

Blizzard has not yet given a start date for the beta, but has confirmed that it will run on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5 and PS4 and will also support crossplay and crosssave. To have a chance to participate, you must have spent some time in the endgame of Diablo 2 – Resurrected and Diablo 3 have spent. If you think you meet the requirements, you’ll need to adjust your Battle.Net privacy settings, see the sources for detailed instructions.

If you haven’t received an invitation by November 18, 2022, you have not been selected – but this date may indicate the approximate start date. An open beta for the endgame is scheduled for early 2023.
