Octopath Traveler 2 is 90% complete

Octopath Traveler 2 will also be released for PlayStation and PC

When Square Enix announce the RPG Octopath Traveler 2 recently, we were surprised that we will not have to wait that long to have it, basically the first months of next year. And indeed, ahead of its release in February of next year, its developer has confirmed that the game’s development is nearing completion.

Speaking in an interview with Famitsu (via by NoisyPixel), Square Enix confirmed that the development from Octopath Traveler 2 it is “on the last leg” and is approximately “90% complete”.

“We are excited to finally announce to everyone that Octopath Traveler 2 development is 90% complete,” said the developer. “We are currently in the last leg, so we ask you to wait a little longer. Keep an eye out for more information to come out at a later date.”

Octopath Traveler 2It will, of course, utilize the core battle mechanics of its predecessor, along with employing the same gorgeous HD-2D visual style, but from entirely new characters and a new world serving as a setting to new gameplay mechanics and more, it will also make many changes.

One area where it will adhere more closely to the original style, however, is music, with composer Yasunori Nishiki set to return.

Octopath Traveler 2 It will be out on February 24, 2023 for PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC. Square Enix also recently announced that the original game has surpassed 3 million units in worldwide shipments and digital sales.
