RTX 4000 on Reddit: AMD has a great chance against Nvidia

RTX 4090 & Co.: There should be no more falling prices, according to Nvidia

The introduction of a new generation of graphics cards was actually always a reason for joy for gamers. With Nvidia’s recent presentation of the new RTX 4000 series, however, this is different: the prospect of a further price increase spoils the generation for many fans in advance. A look at Reddit shows that many are now hoping for AMD.

Opportunity for RX 7000

The announcement of the RTX 4000 graphics cards is currently being hotly debated in the AMD subreddit. The main topic that emerged was a request to AMD not to follow Nvidia and to price the RX 7000 graphics cards sensibly. This is well received by the community: While most topics in the AMD subreddit only get a few dozen or sometimes a few hundred upvotes, comes this topic currently boasting 4,400 upvotes and almost a thousand comments.

The mood in the comments is quite clear: many fans share the desire for comparatively cheap RX 7000 graphics cards. In particular, a potentially higher market share that AMD could achieve as a result is mentioned as an incentive for low prices. AMD should be able to earn more money through low prices – at least that’s the argument of the fans.

Whether AMD will follow suit will be determined, among other things, in discussed in a second Reddit post. However, hopes for a true price breaker that offers the same performance for half the price are hardly realistic. At least a certain difference in the price-performance ratio is still conceivable. In the past, AMD often offered its own graphics cards a little cheaper in order to take market share from Nvidia.

Aside from the extensive speculation and discussions, Reddit also has a whole series of new memes ready that express the disappointment with Nvidia’s new generation of graphics cards. Here, too, AMD’s RX 7000 graphics cards are sometimes presented as a great hope that saves the players from the prices of the RTX 4000 generation.

The discussions and memes show that there is great hope for the new Radeon generation. According to Tae Kimeditor at the US business magazine Barron’s, apart from the prices for the new Geforce generation, there is another problem that could also affect AMD: Missing games.

Accordingly, the Nvidia presentation simply showed too few innovations that should induce the players to buy. And that’s not down to Nvidia itself: Hardly any AAA games are expected overall by the end of the year, so there’s no real reason for PC gamers to upgrade. Whether and how AMD will address this issue remains to be seen. However, it could also dampen the community’s anticipation for the launch of the Radeon graphics cards if AMD does not provide other good incentives.
