Activision Blizzard: Phil Spencer pleased with acquisition progress

Netflix is expanding its portfolio of developer studios with a newly formed studio based in Helsinki.

As Netflix officially announces, the gaming division of the streaming service is growing in the form of a newly founded internal developer studio. The new studio is based in Helsinki, Finland and will be led by Marko Lastikka.

After Next Games, it is already the second Netflix development studio in Finland. With the two Finnish studios, Night School Studio and Boss Fight Entertainment, Netflix has a total of four development studios that specialize in different areas.

In the official announcement of the studio’s founding, Netflix VP of Gaming Amir Rahimi describes the future plans of the gaming division as follows:

“This is another step in our vision to build a world-class games studio that will offer our hundreds of millions of members around the world a variety of delightful and immersive original games – with no ads and no in-app purchases.”

“We’re just getting started and we still have a lot of work to do to provide a great gaming experience on Netflix. A game can take years to develop, so I’m proud to see us steadily building the foundation of our game studios in our first year, and I look forward to sharing insights into our productions for years to come.”
