Seasonal Event Redesign FAQ
The snappy FAQ section below the post addresses two potential questions about the seasonal event revamp:
Question: What will the spring campaign look like? How is it advertised?
The spring promotion will look similar to the other seasonal promotions (fall, summer, winter) and similar support from Steam have for highlighting and promotion. Note: During these promotions, the layout for the entire main Steam store page will change, highlighting special offers. As usual, it is possible to release your game during these seasonal promotions. However, the visibility of new releases during these promotions is significantly reduced.
Question: Why is the Lunar New Year promotion being abolished? Does that mean there will be no more discounts on games during the Lunar New Year?
We held a Lunar New Year promotion for the first time in 2016 to celebrate new game developers and customers from Hong Kong, Taiwan, China and South Korea. Publishers and players worldwide were excited about this additional major Steam promotion. However, over the years we have received increasing feedback that the Lunar New Year and associated promotion was often too close to promotions during the December holidays. We think many publishers will continue to discount games during the Lunar New Year holiday using the custom discount tools. However, customers have more benefits when there is a little more time between the big seasonal promotions.
