FIFA 23 Trading Tips – How to Earn Coins in the Transfer Market

FIFA 23: 7 exciting players who get really strong at the start

To build a strong squad in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team you need coins. We show you trading tips to earn coins on the transfer market.

This is the FIFA 23 transfer market: The Transfer Market in Ultimate Team allows players to offer and buy pretty much any type of item that can be obtained. Among other things, you will get:

  • new players
  • contracts
  • Chemistry Styles to boost your players
  • The new position modifier
  • Cosmetics for clubs and stadiums – such as jerseys, goal anthems and more

It is important for the transfer market that only coins that can be earned in the game are traded there. The real-money currency “FIFA Points” cannot be used for purchases on the transfer market.

The goal of trading in FIFA 23 is to buy cheap items that you can then sell for a profit. With skillful trading, you can use the transfer market to get more coins there.

These in turn can be used to improve your own team in a targeted manner – without using real money.

Because you should always keep this in mind in Ultimate Team: Buying packs is usually not worthwhile. The chance of drawing strong cards from packs in the shop is bad.

You have to consider this when trading: The transfer market in FIFA 23 is dynamic and constantly changing. A player who just cost 50,000 coins can suddenly be worth half as much – or twice as much – the next day.

The prices can fluctuate extremely and what works once may not work the same way the next time.

It is important to observe the transfer market closely and then decide whether a trading method can currently work. Here are some tips and methods you can try.

Include the “transfer fee” when trading

what is this fee The transfer fee, some players like to call it the “EA fee”, always deducts 5% from all sales prices that you reach on the transfer market. This is a fundamental rule of the transfer market.

Let’s say you sell a player for 10,000 coins. You will only be credited with 9,500 coins for this.

That’s bad if you just bought the player 10x for 9,700 coins and then sold 10x for 10,000. Instead of winning 3,000 coins, you now have a loss of 2,000 coins.

That means factor in that 5% before deciding how much to buy players you plan to sell for.

Use timing for meta players

What is to be considered? FIFA 23 has just started and many player cards are steadily increasing.

One of the reasons for this is that new players are only now getting the coins they need to pay high prices on the transfer market. That’s why meta players are on the rise right now, shortly after the FIFA 23 release.

Players like Antony are popular and can rise

It is conceivable that many cards will continue to increase at least until the first weekend league – because then good players want to build powerful teams. Investing in such players now can be worthwhile.

Outside the “start phase”, Thursday morning has established itself as a phase in which you can have the chance to get cheap tickets. Because that’s where many players pick up their Division Rivals rewards. They are then sold quickly and cheaply – you can strike there.

Later in the day, heading into Friday, cards can increase again as players start tinkering with their Weekend League teams. If you have bought interesting cards here, you have a chance of winning.

Don’t just look at players – Just at the start of FIFA 23

Which items are worthwhile? If you want to generate coins on the transfer market, you only think of players that you can sell for a lot of coins in one fell swoop.

But you should also take a look at cosmetics, chemistry styles, trainers, and things like the new position modifier. If you get rewards for packs from the Division Rivals, you can quickly sell something like that as a “pack filler”.

But especially now, at the start of FIFA 23, players are still building their clubs, choosing jerseys from their favorite clubs or looking for a strong coach. Meanwhile, the position modifier is important for building teams in the new chemistry system.

Such items can bring you more coins than you might think!

Bronze Pack Method – BPM

What is the Bronze Pack method? The “BPM” is another classic among the trading methods. The plan here is to buy a Premium Bronze Pack from the FUT Shop for 750 coins and then sell all the content inside.

The thought here: Usually the items in the pack are worth more than the pack itself – if only a little.

FIFA 23 Bronze Pack

Accordingly, you buy the pack and put the content on the transfer list. Important: Here you should check the price of each individual player – because some bronze cards are really worth a lot, thanks to SBCs or tasks.

Then you sell a player for more than 1,000 coins and make a profit straight away. Don’t sell players too cheaply.

FIFA 23 Bronze
Some bronze cards yield a surprising number of coins

This method primarily brings small amounts of coins and requires a lot of patience, but has established itself as quite risk-free and popular – especially at the start of a FIFA title.

However, be careful not to stuff your transfer list too full with cards that just don’t want to be sold. If you have players who absolutely don’t want to walk away even for 200 coins, you should take them off the list at some point.

Incidentally, this technique usually does not work with gold and silver packs, since the price of the packs often exceeds what you can get out of it. The chance of expensive players is low.

Snip and flip

Buy players cheap, sell them expensive: Sniping is one of the most established trading methods in Ultimate Team. Here you try to get selected players as cheaply as possible.

It’s actually best to always use this technique – even if you’re looking for players that you don’t want to sell at all. You don’t want to waste coins.

How to snipe: You set your search filter to a specific player you want to buy – preferably one with the potential to get even more expensive.

Example: A player costs an average of 5,000 coins. But you set your filter below that – around 4,000. The deeper you go, the less likely it is to get an offer.

But if you have found a low price, you have to make the purchase as quickly as possible – because you are also competing with other players for the offers. Typically the plan looks like this:

  • Set your filter, press search.
  • Click away the message that appears if no card appears.
  • If you don’t get the card: Increase the maximum bid price with the shoulder buttons, leave the buy it now price the same. This is how the market supply is updated.
    • If you always keep the price the same, you will always get the same expired offers.
  • Then you keep looking.
  • Repeat these steps until a card appears. If it just doesn’t work, try again at a different time or with a different card.
  • Alternatively, you can increase the immediate price – but not too high. Otherwise it’s no longer worth it, also because of the transfer fee.

You can also snipe in the web app and companion app, but typing takes longer than the practiced process on the controller. This can cost valuable seconds in which other players strike.

Now how do I make coins with it? The goal is to buy cards as far below “normal” value as possible. You can then “flip” them – i.e. sell them again at a higher price.

In the best case, you even wait a little after you’ve bought a player with the potential to get even more expensive. But be careful that its value does not drop and that you end up making a loss.

Pay attention to SBCs, tasks, moments

What makes these items important? In Ultimate Team, it can be worthwhile simply keeping a supply of cards in the club and not selling them directly, but at the right moment. SBCs, tasks and in FIFA 23 theoretically the FUT moments can help here.

These are all points in Ultimate Team that require players to use or trade teams according to very specific requirements.

For example, some SBCs may require TOTW cards. If you have some that can’t be sold immediately for a good price, it can be worth keeping them until just such a moment.

FIFA 23 moments
In order to succeed in FUT Moments, you sometimes need very specific players

Another possibility: Players suddenly need a lot of second division players, players from an unusual nation or similar for an SBC, an objective set or FUT moments. Cards that do nothing else on the transfer market can then become really expensive.

It is therefore important to constantly monitor the market and offer the right cards at the right moment.

Uses portals like futbin to track prices

What’s the use of futbin? on futbin you can follow current player prices closely, also to identify trends. For example, players on the “Popular” main page currently fall into the category of players from the last tip.

Such sites provide significantly more information about current prices than the search in the transfer market itself.

In addition to these methods, there are plenty of other tactics that can earn coins on the transfer market. Which do you use for trading? Do you have any other tips? Tell us in the comments!
