Terraria: The Evergreen gets a huge update with a new level of difficulty and much more

from Jonathan Harsh
If you’re still playing Terraria, you can be happy because the developers have released a new update for the survival title. There is a lot of new content and optimizations in the thick package.

Some games are declared dead after a few months (kudos to Babylon’s Fall), while others last for many years. The survival game Terraria also falls into this category. Even after eleven years, the developers are still releasing new updates and patches for the title. After the support with “Journey’s End” was supposed to be discontinued, the “Labor of Love” update was released this week, bringing dozens of new content and improvements with it.

It’s in the new Terraria update

It would go beyond the scope to list all innovations here. Only this much: Even after all this time, the developers have still found a number of small errors and opportunities for improvement. Here is a selection of what are probably the most important changes:

  • A new world seed: This is said to be the “Magnum Opus” of all World Seeds to date, a combination of the unique traits of other Seeds. The seed is said to be more difficult than those previously available and “essentially offer a new Legendary difficulty”.
  • Another new world seed: This seed literally turns the game world upside down.
  • Gear Loadouts: Three separate loadouts can now be created. For example, you can quickly switch from the building to the combat loadout.
  • Inventory: 9,999 copies of most items can now be collected. In addition, the new item “Void Bag” makes it easier to deal with a stuffed inventory.
  • World Seeds and Bosses: Both aspects have been partially revised to present players with an even more difficult task.
  • The shell phone: This item allows you to determine where the magic mirror will teleport you to.
  • Reworked Melee: A lot of melee weapons are now more powerful, and some specific weapons like broadswords now work differently.
  • New content: The update includes 300 new items, a new tree species, 25 new block and wall types, and more.

The complete list with all Patch Notes is available in the official Terraria forum.

Terraria: Launch trailer for the Switch version of the sandbox game

Is the topic Terraria done with that? The developers probably don’t even know that for sure. After all, Terraria is one of the most popular Steam games out there and the first title with over a million user reviews – with a rating of “extremely positive”. At some point it will probably have to happen that way, because Redigit is known to be working on a successor that is based on the original but should also offer many of its own ideas. Terraria 2 does not have a release date yet.
