The Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has presented the new top model 12T Pro. The Android smartphone has a camera with 200 megapixels.

The Wetzlar company Leica had been bringing products onto the market together with the Chinese state-owned company Huawei since 2016. The partnership ended this year. From now on, the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi and the traditional German company form a community. Since July 2022, the 12S Ultra with Leica camera, which is only available in China, has been the flagship. Now there is the new top model called Xiaomi 12T Pro with a camera with 200 megapixels.

No Leica camera lens on Xiaomi’s top model?

In contrast to the previous top model, however, the Leica logo is missing on the 12T Pro. The Chinese may use an image sensor from Samsung. In addition to the main camera with 200 megapixels, a super wide-angle camera with 8 megapixels and a macro camera with 2 megapixels form the camera equipment on the back of the smartphone. In contrast to Apple with the iPhone 14 Pro or Samsung with the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Xiaomi does not use a telephoto lens. The Xiaomi 12T Pro costs 800 euros and offers a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with up to 120 Hz and an adaptive HDR function. Similar to the current iOS 16 for iPhone users, the Xiaomi 12T Pro can also automatically generate image sections. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 is used as the drive, which can access 256 gigabytes of memory.

In addition to the Xiaomi 12T Pro, there will also be a version called the Xiaomi 12T. Although the buyer saves 200 euros when buying the non-Pro version, the only SoC available is the Mediatek Dimensity 8100 Ultra. In addition, the main camera only offers 108 megapixels and the memory measures 128 gigabytes (256 GB for a surcharge). Both smartphones have a battery with a capacity of 5,000 mAh that can be charged with 120 watts. The smart phones can already be pre-ordered, and both smartphones will go on sale on October 13th.
