Xiaomi 12T Series unveiled: flagship hardware with professional cameras

Xiaomi has presented its new flagship smartphones. At the launch event in Munich, the manufacturer highlighted the powerful cameras and announced details about the hardware of the Xiaomi 12T Series.

With the Xiaomi 12 T and Xiaomi 12T Pro, the focus is primarily on the powerful cameras. Based on the work of the photographer Christof Wolf, the manufacturer shows which recordings are possible with the new smartphones.

The cameras of the new Xiaomi 12T Series

Both the Xiaomi 12T and the 12T Pro have a front camera and three cameras on the back. Selfies can be shot with 20 megapixels and the macro camera (2 megapixels) and the ultra wide-angle camera (8 megapixels) are identical in both models.

The large main camera, a wide-angle sensor, shoots images with 108 megapixels on the Xiaomi 12T and 200 megapixels on the 12T Pro. This also confirms earlier leak photos, which have indicated a 200-megapixel camera since August.

With Xiaomi ProCut, users on the Pro model should receive intelligent help when cutting and creating professional content. Filming in 8K resolution is also possible. In order to convince customers of the quality of the built-in cameras, Xiaomi took a photo series in the Ahr Valley together with the photographer Christof Wolf. The region was devastated by flooding last year. The group also wants to help push ahead with the reconstruction.

Improved performance

The Xiaomi 12T is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Ultra processor that offers four A78 cores with 1.85 gigahertz and four A55 cores with 2 gigahertz. The GPU is the Mali-G610 MC6, the RAM consists of 8 GB of LPDDR5 memory. The smartphone is available with either 128 GB or 256 GB storage capacity.

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 is installed in the Xiaomi 12T Pro, the processor of which promises a performance of up to 3.2 gigahertz. The assembly also includes a Qualcomm Adreno GPU. The LPDDR5 memory amounts to 8 GB or 12 GB, depending on your choice. There are also versions with 128 GB or 256 GB of internal memory.

The Xiaomi 12T Series AMOLED display is 6.67 inches and offers an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hertz. The aspect ratio is 20:9 and the resolution is 2712 x 1220 pixels. The screen is said to be able to display more than 68 billion colors.

The Xiaomi 12T Series models have a 5,000 mAh battery and a screen life of up to 13.5 hours. Thanks to 120 watt HyperCharge technology, users should be able to fully charge the new smartphones in 19 minutes, according to the manufacturer. A charger is included.

The respective prices of the new models are as follows:

• Xiaomi 12T (8GB + 128GB): 599.90 euros.

• Xiaomi 12T (8GB + 256GB): 649.90 euros.

• Xiaomi 12T Pro (8GB + 256GB): 799.90 euros.
