Overwatch 2 Release Tier List – The Best DPS, Tank, and Support Heroes

Overwatch 2 has been playable since October 4, 2022. MeinMMO tells you in the tier list which heroes have the best chance of winning when they are released.

What can I find here? We rank all 35 Overwatch 2 heroes in a tier list for you, including new heroes Sojourn, Junker Queen, and Overwatch’s newest heroine, Kiriko. The list is divided into the following tiers:

• Bull – The best heroes who come out on top in almost every situation
• A tier – Heroes who still excel in their roles and with practice can easily keep up with the S tier
• B tier – Rather mediocre heroes that are easier to counter or harder to play
• C tier – Weaker heroes who have better alternatives in most situations, or who are so easily countered that they become much more difficult to win

Where does the information come from? As a basis, we take the tier lists of various experts and pros, such as Flats, one of the best tank players in the world (via YouTube).

In the MeinMMO editorial team, we also have many enthusiastic Overwatch players who have already played the beta and the preliminary test. A large part of the assessment and changes to the template is therefore based on our experience.

Comment: Sojourn and Soldier: 76 undoubtedly have the edge when it comes to damage in Overwatch 2. In addition, they are easy to play for anyone who has tried any shooter before, and otherwise their gameplay is extremely intuitive.

Winston and D.Va are good tanks because their mobility allows them more mistakes than most other characters in this class. Their defensive abilities also provide good team protection, so they do a great job with the reduced number of tanks per team.

With Lúcio, Kiriko and Ana as healers, there’s little that can go wrong. All three have tremendous healing output and are easy to learn. Those who master them can also use their additional abilities to put a lot of pressure on their opponents.

Comment: Tracer and Genji would normally be S-Tier heroes, but are too difficult to play to recommend as pure ‘victory bringers’. Widowmaker has become a major threat on all maps, mainly due to the reduced number of tanks. Reaper and Ashe are solid picks for just about any team composition.

With the tanks you have here with Reinhardt and Orisa pure damage absorbers, where the positioning is important. Zarya is an offensive tank designed primarily to unnerve your opponent.

As a classic healer with strong output and revives, Mercy is always a good choice. Brigitte’s defensive skills have given her a unique role in the 5-man team, but one that needs practice. Zenyatta is more difficult to play, but its influence through the different spheres is enormous and counters most dangerous opponents.

Comment: The problem here with most DPS heroes is that they’re extremely situational or need too much practice to really make an impact. For example, Cassidy can be swapped out for Soldier or Ashe in almost any situation, and Hanzo for Widowmaker. Sombra, Mei, and Echo have such important gameplay nuances that without much practice, you’ll be more likely to lose.

Sigma would actually be an S tier tank but is too heavy to recommend. A higher rating would be misleading as it takes a lot of practice before it becomes strong. The remaining tanks are offensively designed tanks that also need practice and can only fulfill the “tank” role secondarily. They are more suitable for sowing chaos.

While Moira and Baptiste are strong healers, like Doomfist, they take many hours of experience before they really become strong. But if you want to practice them, here are some of the strongest heroes at hand.

Comment: All of the characters listed here are strong in theory, but only if the opponents don’t react to you at all. A good Pharah alone is enough to counter most of them.

Note that the tier roster is subject to change and you can win with just about any hero and enough practice. The list serves as a guide and the most important thing is always teamwork and sportsmanship.
