The good news is that there are more PC versions to come. The bad: Usually only after a year.

Sony does not fare badly releasing their in-house first-party games for PC after the PS4 and PS5 releases. The PC titles released so far include Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone and Uncharted 4. First party games will continue to be released for PC in the future, but with a time lag.

PC release one year after PS4 and PS5 release

In an interview with YouTuber Julien Chièze speaks PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst about Sony’s disclosure policy. In it, he explains how the company intends to handle the release of PC versions of first-party titles in the future:

When will the PC versions appear? According to Hulst, Sony will continue to ensure that the PC versions will appear no earlier than a year after the release of the PS4 and PS5 versions. There will therefore not be a simultaneous release on PC and console.

Does this apply to all PS games? No! Hulst says Life Service games will be an exception. The success of this type of game depends heavily on the community, which is why as many players as possible should have access to the title when it is released. They are therefore a special exception and will be released simultaneously for PS4 and PS5 as well as for PC.

Sony plans to release a total of ten Live Service titles by 2026. Which of these will come to the PC remains to be seen:

Sony gets Live Service expertise

With a recent purchase, Sony has brought in a lot of reinforcements when it comes to games as a service. At the beginning of January, the announcement was made that Sony wants to buy Destiny maker Bungie for 3.2 billion euros.

Destiny is an online shooter that has been updated with new content for years after its release. Destiny 2 was first released in 2017 for PS4, Xbox One and PC and even got a new DLC a few months ago.
