The Witcher 4: CD Projekt limits release – we still need a lot of patience

When will the new games in The Witcher trilogy be released?

CD Projekt RED announced a while ago that they are working on an all-new trilogy set in the witcher universe with The Witcher: A New Saga Begins. The Witcher: Codenamed Polaris, which we’ll call “The Witcher 4” for convenience, will be the first game in this trilogy and is set to be released at least a full ten years after The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, according to CD Projekt Red President Adam Kicinski now in last investor call announced (via gamerant).

Release dates of the games from the new The Witcher trilogy

The Witcher: Codename Polaris, the first open world RPG from the new saga, will therefore not be available until 2025 at the earliest. Kincinski cites the new engine as the reason, namely the UE5, which requires a little more development time.

However, once the basic framework has been created in Unreal Engine 5 with The Witcher: Polaris, the next two titles from the trilogy should require a little less development time, according to Kicinski. He gives an estimated period of three years for each of the two games.

The targeted release periods of the games in the Witcher trilogy again at a glance:

• The Witcher: Codename Polaris – release no earlier than 2025
• Second part of the new The Witcher trilogy – release no earlier than 2028
• Third part of the new The Witcher trilogy – release no earlier than 2031

Two more Witcher games are in the works at CD Projekt

But that’s not all. At the aforementioned investor conference, CD Projekt also announced two other new The Witcher games:

• Project Sirius: Currently still in the pre-production phase and being developed by Molasses Flood, supported by CD Projekt. It should be exciting for new and old fans alike. A multiplayer also awaits us.
• Project Canis Majoris: Developed by a third-party developer with former The Witcher developers on Unreal Engine 5. A story-focused, single-player open-world RPG awaits us.

In addition, a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel and a completely new RPG brand are in the works at the Polish developer studio.
