Lost Ark Fans Demand Frustration Lock For Endless Grind On Side Quests - "I've Been Farming For 600 Hours"

In the MMORPG Lost Ark, in addition to strong bosses and good equipment, there is also a lot of horizontal content. So collectible items, rewards and more, some of which give you really good bonuses. But that can get very frustrating. Players are now demanding an emergency brake for precisely this frustration.

What is the problem of the players? If you really want to collect everything in Lost Ark, you will need hundreds or even thousands of hours. Aside from the bosses and the race for the highest Gearscore, there is still a lot to do.

The Little Mokoko Seeds are sure to have been collected by every Lost Ark fan at some point, but there are also some items that are harder to obtain than just searching. Many of the so-called Island Souls, for example, and also three of the important omnium stars and even items that you need to fill your adventure tome.

They all have a very specific component that makes them rare, which is chance. Some of the collection items mentioned can only be earned randomly from certain activities, sometimes with ridiculously low chances.

Why are these items important? In Lost Ark, you don’t collect anything just for fun. Behind all collectibles are valuable rewards and sometimes even skill points that simply make your character stronger.

So it’s annoying when you don’t have such useful upgrades for your own heroes. And this is exactly where many fans see enormous potential for frustration.

For the latest raid boss you should also have a lot of skill points:

The same system that already exists for equipment would help

Which system do the fans demand? If you’re looking to upgrade gear in Lost Ark, there’s a decent chance it will work, or it won’t. Chance also plays a major role here.

In order to protect you from too much frustration, the developers have installed a lock. If you’ve messed up the same item enough times in a row, your next attempt is guaranteed to be a success.

A similar system is what many would like to see for the horizontal content and collectibles in the game. In addition to an increased drop chance for some of them, this would already improve many sad in-game events (via reddit).

Is the grind really that bad? If you’re unlucky, you’re really completely stranded at some points in these side quests. On the forums and on reddit, people have been posting about killing boss Moake to get his omnium star for months.

The Island Souls from some islands also pose a problem. Above all, the Isle of Yearning, behind which there is a double random mechanism.

Here you have to beat up two mini bosses on the island. With a very low chance, they will then drop a loot bag, in which the soul of the island can then be found with an even lower chance. Here some players speak of 400 to 600 hours of pure grind. A fan on reddit even reports 1,500 hours of gameplay just on the Isle of Yearning (via reddit).

Some of the Island Souls rewards are important for other gathering tasks

“At least you can just do something else”

Are there dissenting votes? Few. There are just a few people who try to talk themselves into the situation a bit nicer, because some things don’t have to be done at all even for the last few rewards. Let’s stay with the example of the Island Souls.

To get the last really important soul reward, you currently need 85 of the Island Souls, while there are currently 93 in the game. That means you can at least ignore the most annoying 8 for now if you’re not someone who wants absolutely everything 100%. But that’s only a small consolation.

What are the fans saying? Basically, everyone agrees that such a system, as well as on the equipment, would make sense for all content in Lost Ark. Especially because you can only do some things in the MMORPG once a day or even a week, it quickly becomes frustrating when you have to struggle with low drop chances for a long time.

You can always find large reddit threads about this. We would like to give you a few of the comments here:

  • sodanktok writes (via reddit): “It’s amazing how low the drop chances are for some things in the game and yet they don’t have a frustration lock built in. I still don’t have Moake’s omnium star. Whenever I see something that takes other people 50 or more days to do here, I put it on my ‘I’ll never do that’ list. Couldn’t think of any other MMORPG that would be similar.”
  • sdric says (via reddit): “Even if you don’t want to complete everything, it’s all annoying. Not having the Legendary Wealth rune severely limits you on some classes. Missing skill points also hurts in the late game.”
  • iusuzysana writes (via reddit): “I really don’t know why people waste their soul on the island. I feel like the best guide to this island is to just never go there.”

What do you think of the randomness behind some drops in Lost Ark? Do you think such a frustration block makes sense, or do you believe that coincidence is coincidence and that people shouldn’t behave like that? Write it to us in the comments here on MeinMMO.
