CoD Modern Warfare 2 presents its multiplayer content for the release – weapons, operators, map & modes

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released on October 28th. In a blog post, the developers have now published further details about the content of the release. There aren’t all the details yet, but what we already know about the release content, we’re collecting for you here on MeinMMO.

Slowly but surely it starts: The release of Modern Warfare 2 is imminent. As early as October 20th, the first pre-orders can rock the campaign before the official release is due on October 28th.

For many players, the multiplayer mode is the focus. That’s why we’re collecting the multiplayer content for you here that you can expect to see in the game at launch. One click takes you to the information you are looking for:

• CoD MW2: Multiplayer Content

We don’t know all the details yet, so we can’t list all the weapons or maps for you. However, what is already known can be found here. To get in the mood for the multiplayer mode, CoD has already released a celebrity trailer:

CoD MW2: Release Content – ​​Over 50 Weapons

What is already known? There will be over 50 unique weapons at release, spread across 33 weapon platforms. These platforms partially replace the legacy system of weapon levels.

You unlock these platforms through your account level and then you must play these weapons to unlock more weapons. Up to 6 weapons can be unlocked per platform. They then share some important essays. Details on the new Weaponsmith can be found here.

We already know the M4 platform from the MW2 beta, with classics like the M4 or the M16 volley gun, and the Lachmann platform, which contains the MP5, for example.

CoD already shows how many weapons of each class are in the game:

• 10 assault rifles
• 4 combat rifles (single shot)
• 7 submachine guns
• 4 shotguns
• 6 LMGs
• 6 DMRs
• 3 snipers
• battle shield
• 5 pistols
• 4 launchers
• A melee weapon

CoD MW2: Release Content – ​​25 Operators

What is already known? With CoD MW2, the factions return to Call of Duty. So you always have to choose 2 operators for your matches – depending on which side you are fighting on, you then have a different operator.

7 are available to you at the start, 18 can be unlocked via challenges in multiplayer and the campaign.

The two factions for the release are called Specgru and Kortac. Here are the Specgru operators:

These are the 23 operators in the game with their own background story. The remaining 2 Operators are the Mil-Sim Operators – unnamed soldiers, but over time they will also gain many skins that look more generic. Like a police uniform, for example.

By the way, the “Oni” operator of the Kortac is currently reserved for the PlayStation. The operator is part of the MW2 digital pre-order, but only for PS4 and PS5 players.

CoD MW2: Release Content – ​​Modes and Maps

What is already known? Currently we only know the specific amount of modes at release: 10 modes for the normal maps and 2 modes for the large maps of Ground War. Due to the beta phase we can already roughly say which modes will come into play:

Currently, however, it would also be possible for the modes to be changed from the beta. However, the experience of the last few years has shown that the content of the beta is also directly available in the full game.

When it comes to maps, we can also list a few from the beta:

• 6vs6 maps
  • Breenbergh Hotel
  • farm 18
  • Mercado Las Almas
• Ground War Maps

It has also been confirmed that the “Marina Bay Grand Prix” map will be included at the release. It’s set on a Formula 1 racetrack.

By the way, many maps play in 2 specific areas of the world: In Al Mazrah, the later Warzone map and in Las Almas, Mexico.

It is not yet possible to say for sure how many 6vs6 maps CoD MW2 will deliver for the release. CoD MW 2019 had the lowest number of release maps to date, only coming with 6 6vs6 maps. Cold War had 8, Vanguard a very strong 14.

CoD MW2: Release Content – ​​Co-Op Mode “Spec-Ops”

What is already known? In co-op mode, CoD MW2 goes back to its roots. You will be served a duo mode and often the tasks of the players in a mission will differ.

As an example, the developers gave a mission where one player on the ground carries out his mission and the second player helps with support fire out of pleasure.

At the start, 3 missions will be available when playing on the later Warzone map Al Mazrah:

• Low profile
  • Schleich mission in which you collect reconnaissance data
• Denied Area
  • Vehicle mission in which you have to destroy something
• Defender: Mt Zaya
  • Horde mission where more enemies come with each wave

As with multiplayer, Spec Ops will have more and more missions over time.

As soon as there is new information about the release content, we will add the information. The first content drop will come on November 16th and Season 1 will start. New maps, modes and weapons are already being added here.

On December 14, the mid-season starts with more content – including the new PvE raids and some legendary maps. The first remakes of old maps could already come into play here.
