ESO: Witches Festival 2022 – How to get double XP and other spooky rewards

ESO - Hourglass by Alkosh

The annual Witches Festival event is coming up in the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online. It starts on October 20, 2022. MeinMMO tells you all the details about this year’s witch festival and how you get your rewards.

When is the Witches Festival event? It starts on October 20, 2022 at 16:00 CEST and runs until Tuesday, November 02 at 15:00 CEST. So think about the time change!

What is the witch festival? This is a Halloween event in ESO. It’s one of those events that also gives a 100% experience bonus. So if you still have unfinished characters, then you should take advantage of the last few days. The experience bonus can also be combined with potions and scrolls.

Find out more in our guide on how to get a lot of experience (XP) in a short time.

So you can take part in the witch festival

First, you must purchase the Crow Caller from the Crown Store. You can find this item in the “Holiday” category or in the showcase. Once you use it, you’ll unlock the Witchmother’s Barter quest. Once you complete this quest, you will receive a souvenir: the Witch Mother’s Whistle.

If you already completed the quest the year before, you can simply use your keepsake again. You don’t necessarily have to repeat the quest. It is best to put the souvenir in your quick access during the event. You can access it from your inventory (I) by clicking on the quick access icon.

There you can now add some items, which you can use directly with a key (default setting: Q).

Now, when you use your keepsake, you get a 100% experience bonus for 2 hours. The witch mother’s cauldron also appears. If you use this, you turn into a scary skeleton. If you don’t like this look, you can of course deactivate it directly.

How do I disable the Witches Festival transformation?

Open your character menu (C) and scroll down. There you can see the effects that affect you. If you now click on the effect of the transformation, it disappears again.

These rewards are available at the Witches Festival

In addition to the experience bonus, you will also receive Plunder Skulls. These are given as rewards from leaders. It doesn’t matter which leader. Here’s the loot:

  • Vault Bosses
  • Bosses of an open dungeon
  • dungeon bosses
  • Bosses in Trials
  • Open world bosses

You can recognize the leaders/bosses by the fact that they are marked with a skull and crossbones symbol on your map. With these add-ons you can also make bosses visible on the map that you would otherwise not see:

  • treasures suitable for the witch festival

This is how you get many rewards during the event

Defeat as many bosses as possible

In order to get as many rewards as possible, you have to collect a lot of Plunder Skulls. To do this, you need to knock out as many bosses as you can. Once per day you will receive up to 7 golden Plunder Skulls.

You get these 7 golden skulls by defeating each of the following bosses:

  1. Final Boss of an Arena (Maelstrom, Vateshran, Dragonstar Arena and Blackrose Prison)
  2. A boss of Anchors, Geysers and Harrowstorms or Dragons
  3. A vault boss
  4. The final boss of a dungeon
  5. Boss in an open dungeon, in the Imperial City, or a quest boss
  6. Last boss of a trial
  7. A world boss

With the first golden Plunder Skull, you will also receive that day’s Event Tickets. Are you still missing event tickets to redeem them for a certain item at the event ticket dealer? If necessary, you can also purchase additional Event Tickets in the Crown Store (250 crowns each).

However, it is important to note that you can only have 12 event tickets at a time. Redeem these first before buying or collecting more. In total, you can earn up to 28 Event Tickets during the event.

Combines the Skull Hunt with daily quests

You can combine the Skull Hunt beautifully with the daily quests from the following areas:

  • Craglorn (core game)
  • Wrothgar (Orsinium)
  • Vvardenfell (Morrowind)
  • Clockwork City
  • Summersend (Summerset)
  • Murkmire (Murkmire)
  • northern Elsweyr (Elsweyr)
  • southern Elsweyr (Dragonhold)
  • Western Skyrim (Greymoor)
  • Reach (Markarth)
  • Dark Forest (Blackwood)
  • Deadlands
  • High Isle

You can also share these daily quests within your group and complete several at once.

The daily dungeon quests of the Undaunted or the guilds are also suitable for this. If you generally don’t care for PvE and prefer to be in PvP, you can of course take the daily quests with you and beat up a boss from time to time.

The most important thing is: farm where you enjoy it. Otherwise it gets monotonous very quickly.

Exchange items in your community or guild

Of course you will also get one or the other reward twice. But this is no problem. Because you can simply swap with other players. I’m sure some feel the same way.

Search the guild stores

If you really don’t have time to play until the event ends, visit the guild shops. Currently you can find many of the rewards at low prices.

An additional daily quest awaits you at the Witches Festival

Like last year, there will be a daily quest, Pluck the Crow. You receive the quest from the witch mother Taerma. You can find them both in Olyve’s Brewery and at the Impresaria. In order to complete the quest, you must find 50 Cursed Feathers in Plunder Skulls.

The reward for this quest is a Dremora Plunder Skull of the Crowborn Horror. You have a small chance of finding a handsome chest there. This holds particularly interesting and valuable rewards.
