Resident Evil Village: New Gold Edition Trailer & Third-Person Demo

Not only the remake of Resident Evil 4 was able to shine in Capcom’s horror showcase, the current offshoot Village was also given a creepy appearance.

Of course, the focus was on the Gold Edition, which will appear in a week’s time and which, in addition to the main game, also includes the Winters’ expansion. In addition to a third-person mode for the Village, which actually takes place in the first-person perspective, the DLC also contains new characters and maps for the Mercenaries mode and the Shadows of Rose story expansion.

Resident Evil Village: Shadows of Rose is the star of the Gold Edition

The latter in particular received special attention in the showcase section around Village, as it should be the most interesting part of the Winters’ expansion for most Resident Evil fans. In a new trailer, Shadows of Rose shows its chilling side again and follows Ethan’s daughter on a terrifying adventure.

To answer a few questions from fans, director Kento Kinoshito spoke up in an interview. He explains that Rose wants to get rid of her powers and must therefore go to the source of her supernatural power: the so-called “Realm of Consciousness”. As Kinoshito goes on to reveal, memory-born nightmares are one of the core elements of Rose’s story.

Before Kinoshito turns to the third-person perspective, he briefly sheds light on the innovations in the Mercenaries mode. The arcade mode, in which you have to eliminate as many opponents as possible, gets three new characters in the DLC: Chris Redfield, Heisenberg and Lady Dimitrescu. The oversized vampire lady had to be scaled down a bit for the mode though.

Third-person perspective demo available now

While Shadows of Rose takes place in the third-person perspective anyway, the Winters’ expansion also gives you the opportunity to experience the main story with a visible Ethan. The new option is intended to appeal to players who find the first-person perspective too scary, have problems with motion sickness, or simply aren’t a fan of first-person shooters.

A demo is also available now to try out the third-person perspective that is typical of Resident Evil but unusual for Village. The free trial version can be tested for 60 minutes no matter how many times you die or if you finish before the time. Officially, the Resident Evil Village Gold Edition and Winters’ Single Purchase Expansion will be available on October 28th for all platforms where the horror game is already available.
