Blackout danger: emergency list for power failure – order everything you need from Amazon now
If there is a blackout in Germany, then a black TV screen or a non-functioning computer are probably among the smaller problems. A power outage lasting several days would have much more far-reaching consequences: Water would no longer come out of the pipes, the heating and toilet would no longer work, and the refrigerator, stove or oven would then no longer make a peep. In the event of a blackout, basic human needs would quickly come to the fore: food, drink, health, hygiene.
Since the area-wide supply of the population with food, hygiene articles or medicines would then no longer be guaranteed – a supermarket or a pharmacy cannot continue to operate without electricity – there is a list of supplies for emergency situations from the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK), which should get you up to 10 days without electricity, heating and water. Incidentally, this list has been around for a number of years and is not directly related to either the corona pandemic (keyword: lockdown/quarantine) or the current energy crisis. The BBK advises always having this emergency supply at home, gradually using it up and refilling it.
If you want to make preparations for an impending blackout, but instead of bickering in the supermarket for the last pack of toilet paper, you would rather order everything quickly and conveniently online, we can help. Below we show the checklist including direct links to Amazon. We also link power generators, power banks, etc. so that you can continue to have electricity, at least for a certain amount of time.

In order to be prepared for emergencies, the BBK recommends having food in the house for about 10 days per person. There is a chech list for this, which corresponds to approx. 2,200 kilocalories per day. Important: The emergency list refers to a general disaster in Germany, in which you cannot replenish your food supply – not directly to a power failure lasting several days. In order to prepare for an imminent blackout, you should primarily use food that can be consumed without a powered device (stove, oven, etc.). We link to the overview pages on Amazon.

Hygiene articles and medicines that should be kept in stock at home
NIn preparation for a catastrophe such as a power failure lasting several days (“blackout”) in Germany, you should also have sufficient quantities of important hygiene articles and medicines at home for 10-14 days. Here, too, Amazon offers a comprehensive range with often short delivery times.

In the event of a power failure: With these devices, you generate or store electricity or generate heat

When we experience a power outage lasting several days, not only food and medicine are important. A candle (along with a lighter/matches) or a flashlight (don’t forget the batteries!) provide light and some warmth. A power generation or a power station, on the other hand, provide you with electricity. Most power generators use gasoline as an energy source. And with a power bank, you can operate your smartphone independently of the power grid. However, should the blackout occur across the board in Germany, then you will certainly NOT be able to make calls with your mobile phone.
