Destiny 2 is again adjusting PvP in favor of elite players, but not in the way you think

In Destiny 2, Bungie has once again made changes for PvP. This time, however, in favor of the pro players. Don’t worry though, Bungie still retains its skill-based matchmaking.

What happened? As usual, a new patch rolled out in Destiny 2 on Tuesday. Hotfix 6.2.5.1 not only brought some bug fixes into play, but also an adjustment that Bungie highlighted. It was about the melting pot and elite players.

This time, however, the development team did not give up and once again removed skill-based matchmaking, but only made a small adjustment to accommodate pro players in PvP. Some changes should now make matches even more relaxed and better for professional players.

Patch 6.2.5.1 improves matchmaking for professionals

What has been changed? According to Bungie Help’s Twitter post, some “adjustments” have been targeted. The goal, according to Bungie, was to improve matchmaking speed and connection for players at higher skill levels in Control mode.

Anyone who has ever been around the SBMM and looked for competitors in a match either spent a lot of time in matchmaking or got opponents with a really bad line.

According to the listed adjustments, Bungie also wants to offer the sweaties among you a fair match, in which skill ensures your victory and no guardians who teleport through the map with a bad line win.

What is the mood of the players after the change? Bungie’s announcement didn’t go unnoticed by all players and pros. Even Aztecross addresses Bungie’s Twitter post in his video and talks about one possible removal of the SBMM under control. The YouTuber welcomed the thought, however, his fans corrected him in the comments and clarified that SBMM was not disabled.

However, taking the official Twitter post, the majority of players agree. They want SBMM gone completely, as it has no place in a casual mode like Control. On top of that, the penalty for abandoning games should also be deactivated.

The longer players have to endure skill-based matchmaking, the greater the resentment and voices against such a system. It is unclear whether Bungie will stick to its plan or give in and disable the SBMM again.

What do you think? Will Bungie hold out? Or do you think the developers will give in to Lightfall and remove the SBMM entirely? Let’s find out in the comments!
