The Simpsons seem to be rising to their former glory, the last newer seasons are all getting better with the audience. The latest Halloween episode, which is traditionally called Treehouse of Horror again, takes the same line. This time, however, there is a very special surprise hidden in it: The anime Simpsons cut a really good figure as a Death Note homage.

Death Tome: The Simpsons looks really good as an anime

That’s what it’s about: Death Note meets The Simpsons or vice versa. There’s a Death Note tribute in the latest Halloween Treehouse of Horror episode, and it’s really impressive. Lisa, Homer, Marge and co are shown in anime guise and that looks surprisingly cool.

What is happening? Lisa Simpson comes into possession of the Death Note book, albeit called Death Tome here. She can write names in there and the people who are in there die. However, how the human dies must be specified, and each type of death may only be used once. An exciting premise that has brought Death Note great fame and notoriety.

Anyway, Lisa looks good as an anime character too. It’s impressive how easily she is recognizable as Lisa Simpson, even though the style is completely different (the voice helps enormously, of course). The whole thing shines in the Death Note look and the mix with the Simpsons characters is convincing in a particularly strange way.

This also applies to the previously published images from the mashup episode. For example, here you can also see Homer and Marge Simpson as Death Note anime characters:

When are we coming? Unfortunately, that might take a while. The Treehouse of Horror episode will now be broadcast on Halloween in the USA, but it is not yet certain when it can be watched in Germany. The complete 34th season will probably not come to Disney Plus until sometime in autumn 2023 in Germany. In free TV it should take even longer.

How do you like the look of the Simpsons characters as anime? Are you more of a Death Note or Simpsons fan?
