No matter what you think of Overwatch 2: The Halloween event is fun

Overwatch 2 has a pretty interesting PvE mission right now. Nobody should miss it, because that’s what Blizzard’s campaign could look like.

The Halloween event has started in Overwatch 2 and that brought the new Junkenstein’s Revenge: Wrath of the Bride mode. If you thought this was just a reboot of Junkenstein’s wave mode, you’d be wrong. Because the new Halloween mode is much more and maybe even a preview of what we can expect in Overwatch’s PvE mode.

Therefore, we have a clear recommendation: Check out the new mode while it’s available.

What is this mode? The Halloween mode “Junkenstein’s Revenge: Wrath of the Bride” is more like a small adventure and cannot be compared to the well-known “Waves” mode. Instead, the four heroes start at different points, then have to find each other and then master a series of missions in order to banish Junkenstein’s evil bride. There are a few boss fights that can get quite hectic at times, and even some real horror elements have made it into the mode – including some jump scare moments.

This is peppered with dialogues between the four heroines, so that a short but entertaining story develops.

How to start the mode? Junkenstein’s Revenge game mode is a bit hidden and cannot be seen from the main menu. You have to go to the “Arcade” and select the menu item on the far left. Then you can set the difficulty.

It’s almost impossible to die in Story mode, so we recommend starting at least on Hard – it offers a good challenge. “Expert” or even “Nightmare” is only something for well-rehearsed teams that have mastered all four available heroes (Kiriko, Junker Queen, Soujorn and Ashe) really well.

The map is kept quite dark – that contributes well to the atmosphere.

By the way: It is best to play the mode with a full group of 4 people. Because trolls can block the game by picking up a key and not going to the locked gate.

PvE as it could be in Overwatch 2

The great hope now is that this mode will be a kind of foretaste of what Overwatch 2’s PvE mode could look like. Because it’s amazing how much interesting gameplay Blizzard has gotten out of the actually quite small map “Eichenwalde” – even though the 4 heroines are not adaptable at all and the opponents all act quite stupidly (but appropriately).

So if the whole thing is an indication and a foretaste of what the campaigns in Overwatch 2 can look like, then this should give some fans new hope.

So, even if you can’t do anything with Overwatch 2 and especially the monetization: Junkenstein’s Revenge: Wrath of the Bride is definitely worth it, because the gameplay is just fun and requires good team play.

Have you tried the new mode yet? Or can you not do anything with the anger of the bride?

By the way, with a lousy combo in Overwatch 2 you can “easily” farm team kills.
