WoW stutters after patch 10.0? This is how you fix the error

Your World of Warcraft is jerky and lagging since patch 10.0? A simple trick fixes this annoying error and brings back the enjoyment of the game.

World of Warcraft patch 10.0 is live and brought many changes to Azeroth. Besides the new interface and the fresh talent system, there are also some changes in the background. Some of these are currently causing WoW to jerk suspiciously and there are always “mini freezes”. We reveal why this is and how you fix it.

Where are the stutters coming from? With patch 10.0, Blizzard apparently made a change to how WoW calculates the shaders. These are currently stored on some PCs on the hard drive – and not, as is actually the case, in the PC’s main memory or the graphics card. This leads to the small “mini-lags” or stutters, since WoW demands far too much from most hard drives.

How to fix stuttering in Patch 10: A single command in the chat is enough to fix this problem. Just open your chat window and then enter the following line:

/console GxAllowCachelessShaderMode 0

Then either restart the game completely or enter this command:

/console gxRestart

Now when you log back into WoW, the game should run much smoother than before.

By the way, you only have to enter this once and not every time you start the game. After you have made this setting for the first time, the problem should have disappeared and World of Warcraft should run much more smoothly.

It can be assumed that Blizzard will fix this error itself in the coming weeks, as many players are currently suffering from the problem.

What can you do if it still stutters? Basically, it is advisable to first deactivate the interface addons. Especially addons that eat up a lot of resources – such as “All the Things” – can drastically limit performance. Many addons are also not yet updated and therefore cause error messages that lead to problems.

If it stutters even without addons, turn the graphics settings down a bit, because with Patch 10.0 the maximum viewing range was increased – if yours is at the maximum, it could now overwhelm your PC.
