LoL: The best player in Germany (22) will probably be thrown out of his team – because an old Swede wants his job back

Strange things are happening around Team Fnatic in League of Legends: 26-year-old Swede Martin “Rekkles” Larsson is said to be returning to the LoL team he played for for 7 years. But what about his replacement, German botlaner Elias “Upset” Lipp (22)? He posts a sad smiley and his coach wishes him all the best.

This is the history: In November 2020, Rekkles decided to switch teams after 7 years at Fnatic. The club legend went to G2, nominally the only better club in Europe. He was replaced by the young German player Upset, who had to follow in huge footsteps. Upset filled these footsteps excellently for 2 years.

But apparently he is now being pushed out of the job again by his predecessor.

• A normally well-informed insider, LEC Wooloo, reported yesterday 11/8/2022: Rekkles is returning to Fnatic as a botlaner (via twitter): Rekkles himself posted a tweet “I’m back.”
• Fnatic’s current ADC, Elias “Upset” Lipp, then only publishes a sad smiley. He’s played for Fnatic since November 2020, but his days at the top European club are apparently numbered (via twitter).
• As Sport1 reports, Fnatic coach YamatoCannon is said to have written Upset afterwards: “I hope you find a new home. Your performance over the past few years has been world class!” The message can no longer be found online. (via sports1)

22-year-old world-class player leaves, 26-year-old veteran in crisis comes

Why is this so strange? The decision is strange because Upset is only 22 years old and has had an outstanding performance with Fnatic over the past two years. With his disciplined style of play, Upset was already seen by many as the best ADC in Europe and seemed on the verge of becoming a world leader.

He was dominant in KD/A stats in Europe, considered the lynchpin of the team. Experts tended to identify weaknesses in other positions.

After an internal dispute as a result of the 2021 World Cup, which Upset missed due to personal problems, other players left the team – but Upset stayed.

It is therefore strange that he who was seen as the “heart of the team” is being replaced.

In China, on the other hand, as they get older, even the best players have to constantly compete against young players to keep their place on the team.

Although you also have to say: The version of Fnatic with Upset didn’t make it out of the group phase at the Worlds, after 3 games the team suddenly collapsed. Upset was already disappointed with the team’s preparation for Worlds.

Maybe Upset isn’t all that unhappy about the fact that they’re going their separate ways.
