To the Leviathan Axe level up, you need a specific and very rare item: a frost flame. For each frost flame you can upgrade the ax by another level.
Where do I upgrade the axe? That’s what you do Brok or Sindri. The two dwarves have set up shops in most of the new worlds. Visit any shop and you can use your Frostflame(s) to make the ax even more powerful.
Where can I find Frostflames?
Frost Flames are extremely rare and can only be obtained at certain points in the game. Usually as a reward for boss fights.
- Frost Flame #1: Very early in the game. Defeat the Huntress in the boss fight and the first Frostflame is yours.
- Frost Flame #2: After defeating Alva in the story, you can collect the second flame.
- Frost Flame #3: After the big boss fight against the Nidhöggr, the third Frost Flame is yours.
- Frostflame #4: When you are in Helheim with Atreus. You must defeat the Hel Leaper at the Shipyard entrance to get this Frost Flame.
- Frost Flame #5Mission: For this flame, do the “For Vanaheim!” favor. As part of the favor that takes you to the crater in Vanaheim, you will fight the dragon called “Crimson Horror” and you will be rewarded with the Frostflame.
- Frost Flame #6: Follow the “The Conjuration” favor in Muspelheim and defeat the Flame Phantom for this Frostflame
