For the minimalist construction game Stacklands (to the user article) the second content update was released on November 9th. After the first update let you explore a distant island, it’s now off to the Dark Forest. The Dark Forest update adds, among other things, a resident inventory and a new area to the title and expands the combat mechanics with a strategic component.

In the future, the resident inventory will allow you to equip your residents with items. While your fighters do better in battle thanks to armor items or other armaments – such as bows – your craftsmen work more effectively with the items. However, not only your villagers benefit from the new system, but also your opponents.

The Dark Forest also opens up a new game board. You achieve this with your fighters through the portal through which the enemies normally pop into your game world. In the Dark Forest you hold your ground against several waves of enemies and a final boss. In the future, you will actively decide in battle which opponent your fighters will attack. This allows you to use your fighters’ strengths against your opponents’ weaknesses. You can read the exact update content on the (English-language) announcement page at Steam after.
