WoW: Matching dragon names for the Dracthyr callers - how to find one

Are you looking for a suitable name for your dragons in World of Warcraft? We’ll tell you how to create the perfect dragon name.

In World of Warcraft, the new Caller class is now playable for pre-orders of Dragonflight. But before you can start, you face a rather difficult task. For what shall one call the new Dracthyr? After all, you don’t want to show the name talent of average hunters and call your character “Dráchênpâúl”.

So here are a few tips for you on how to name your Dracthyr.

Dragon Names – Appropriate names for the Dracthyr in WoW

Anyone who is more concerned with names in World of Warcraft already knows that the names of dragons always sound quite similar – depending on which dragonflight they belong to.

Endings – This is how (almost) all dragon names end

Depending on which dragonflight a dragon belongs to, it has a different ending. So if you want a name to match your color or ancestry, note the following endings:

  • Red dragons: -strasza for male characters, -strasza for female characters
  • Blue dragons: -gos for male characters, -gosa for female characters
  • Bronze dragons: -ormu for male characters, -ormi for female characters
  • Green: -us for male characters, -ra for female characters

With black dragons it’s not always that clear and some fall out of line. Basically, there is also a trend here.

  • Black dragons: -ian and -ion for male characters, -ia for female characters

Prefixes – Which goes well with dragons

Basically, you already have the necessary building blocks to find a suitable dragon name. You can simply modify any name with these endings.

If you want to sound “even more” like a WoW dragon, you can also lean the first part of the name a bit. Because many dragon names also allude to the function or color of their swarm. The first part of the name can – but does not have to – be the beginning of a term that is associated either with the color or the function of the respective swarm.

Some examples:

  • “Chronormu” is made up of the term “chronos” (“time”) and the ending “-ormu”. So it’s a bronze dragon.
  • “Azuregos” is composed of the term “azure” (a shade of blue) and the ending “-gos”, so it is a blue dragon.
  • “Onyxia” is made up of the term “onyx” (a mineral) and the ending “-ia”. It is therefore a female, black dragon.

We have the function of the individual swarms here again in a nutshell.

  • Red Dragonflight: Defends life and creation.
  • Blue Dragonflight: Deals with magic and the arcane.
  • Green Dragonflight: Protect nature and the Emerald Dream.
  • Bronze Dragonflight: Protects and watches over the timelines.
  • Black Dragonflight: Preserve the Earth/Planet.

Note, however, that not all dragons strictly follow these guidelines, and some may be out of line. But if you want a “typical” dragon name, you should be on the safe side with the tips above.
