Path of Exile: New Expansion in December – Title & Boss Teaser
In December 2022 the next expansion for Path of Exille will be released, along with the accompanying Challenge League. While the developers are still officially presenting Update 3.20, the name of the December expansion and a brief glimpse of a boss fight are already available
Every three months, Path of Exile players can expect major updates that bring a new challenge league and extensive changes and innovations to the game experience. Currently running the final weeks of Lake of Kalandra, the league of patch 3.19.0. Accordingly, players look spellbound to the presentation of the next league – especially since themselves the developers have had to listen to a lot of criticism in the recent past. Although the big live reveal of the next expansion will not take place until December 1, 2022, you can already watch a teaser trailer including the boss fight and the title of the next update.
Path of Exile: New 3.20.0 update is called “Forbidden Sanctum”
In the first gameplay video of patch 3.20.0 aka Forbidden Sanctum we see a PoE hero entering a sacred room full of candles and encountering a gargoyle-like boss with a sword. But the most striking thing about this creature is its candle-covered back, which makes the behemoth look like a WoW mutated goblin with a Bloodborne or Demon’s Souls aesthetic – “you no take candle!”

Observant PoE fans immediately noticed that the monster’s animations and high-quality design speak for the fact that it is already available for the upcoming Path of Exile mega update (buy now ) 2 was designed. and still more observant fans know that this monster is not even new: in the first demo of Path of Exile 2 from three years ago, this opponent called “Candlemass” was already seen:
