Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Ubisoft makes disappointing announcement about New Game+

Eivor soon experiences the last great adventure.

It's not for nothing that Eivor looks sad.

It’s not for nothing that Eivor looks sad.

Assassin’s Creed Origins has it, as does Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, but Assassin’s Creed Valhalla gets nothing. The last part of the series does not get a New Game Plus. Ubisoft now has that in an official one blog post confirms and provides an explanation at the same time.

What is New Game Plus? NG+ is a mode that allows players to start a new save while keeping some progression like skills and weapons. In Odyssey, for example, this included all items, character level, skill points, upgrades, money and mounts.

Ubisoft says no to New Game Plus

That’s what it’s about: Players have long wished for a New Game Plus mode for Valhalla to relive Eivor’s adventures (on a higher difficulty level) without having to turn every stone. It was to be expected that one would be patched, after all, the two predecessors Origins and Odyssey also got one later. The hope was therefore great that the upcoming and final content update 1.6.2 New Game Plus will finally come into play. But none. In the case of Valhalla, that won’t happen anymore.

Ubisoft explains its decision: The fact that NG+ mode is not an option is said to be due to the structure of AC Valhalla. The developers wanted to comply with the request, but finally decided against it:

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was created as a unique experience, structurally very different from previous Assassin’s Creed installments, offering new ways to engage with the world and its characters. As we explored the possibility of implementing New Game+, we realized that due to the depth of the game, we had very limited ability to make a replay worthwhile or even special for you.

We understand that this news is disappointing, but hope that the new content released over the past few months – including unprecedented experiences like The Forgotten Saga – will provide an exciting and challenging addition for those who want repeatable content.

In addition to the aforementioned rogue-lite mode “The Forgotten Saga”, Ubisoft is also trying to console us with the fact that there will be more new content before the end of Valhalla. What is meant by this was not further specified. In addition to the free DLC “The Last Chapter” and a hood update, the same blog post also talked about some surprises:
