WoW Dungeon Guide: Ruby Life Pool – that’s what awaits you

Happy Dragonflight - the ninth WoW expansion is finally here! (1)

With only three bosses and a rather small layout, the ruby life pools are in WoW: Dragon Flight one of the smallest dungeons in a long time. But you still have three primalist bosses waiting to keep you on your toes in the name of the proto-dragon villain Raszageth (final boss of the first Dragonflight raid, Vaults of Incarnations).

Melidrussa the hypothermic

True to its name, the night elf Melidrussa relies on a large amount of ice spells and can turn the entire battlefield into a blizzard if you misbehave. Mobility and counters to slows are hugely important here!

Zone: Awakening Coast (Dragon Isles)

Coordinates: 60/75

Access from: Level 61

Bosses: Melidrussa the Chilled, Kokia Firehoof, Kyrakka, and Erkhart Stormvein When Melidrussa reaches 75 percent health and later reaches 45 percent health, she summons energized dragon pups to pounce on you. The Little Fluttermen’s PRIMEVAL COLD attack stacks a slowing effect that causes players to run five percent slower for each use. With ten stacks active, the target freezes, is stunned for 3 seconds, and takes Frost damage every second. So, as a DpS fighter with AoE skills, be sure to take care of the puppies as soon as they appear!

Melidrussa also regularly casts COLD STORM on a random hero, who should then move away from the team as quickly as possible. This is how he places the icy storm, which pulls nearby players to the center where they are knocked away with explosive Frost damage after six seconds. So movement spells and teleportation are required here. Aside from that, you’ll dodge the extremely damaging HAIL BOMBS, which create frosty fields that you’re not allowed to touch. On Mythic, the boss wraps himself in a frost shield that you have to break through, otherwise the whole group will continuously suffer frost damage for the duration of the effect.

After the chilly fight against Melidrussa, things get fiery and we say directly pro forma: Don’t stand in the fields of flames!

Whenever the Tauren enemy reaches 100 energy, it will summon a Firestorm mob that deals massive Fire damage at its spawn location – so dodge! You should knock down the summoned beast as quickly as possible and interrupt its BLAZING FIRE and INFERNO skills. If the monster is dead, you won’t rest: When the Firestorm’s health reaches zero, it explodes, dealing massive Fire damage within 20 yards. It even creates a damaging area of Scorched Earth on Mythic.

Kokia himself keeps throwing MOLTEN CHUCK, which you have to dodge. Otherwise you will not only suffer damage, but you will also be thrown away and stunned. The deadly orb rolls up to 40 yards and then explodes, again dealing damage to all players within a 12 yard radius. On Mythic, this boss skill is particularly steep, because then the orbs also leave Scorched Earth, which stays for a long time. So it’s a race against time, because at some point the entire combat area is a game from “The Floor is Lava”. Literally.

Healers keep a particularly close eye on the tank when Kokia is using Scorching BLOWS. Your defender then suffers a stacking bleed effect.

Kyrakka and Erkhart Stormvein

After two bosses, you’ve already arrived at the final battle of this dungeon, which puts the spotlight on a duo: the winged little monster Kyrakka and his rider Erkhart, who become a single boss opponent once the health of one of them drops to 50 percent. From this point, Erkhart is harder to hit as he takes to the skies on his mount.

Erkhart is your tank’s target and occupier, with healers making sure to take care of STORMALL’s stacking effect. If this reaches three stacks, a dispel is urgently needed, otherwise the tank will quickly die: With each stack, the nature damage suffered is increased by 100 percent, which makes the following applications of STORMKNALL significantly more devastating.
