There will be scary house supplies next year. Luto wants to give us goosebumps in 2023 with psychological horror and classic bed sheet ghosts. A free Steam demo gives a little foretaste of what’s to come. The complete game should then appear not only for the PC, but also for consoles.

This is what you can expect in the game and in the demo

Luto wants to offer a typical narrative horror experience while keeping us trapped in a spooky house. We can assume that the building symbolizes a mental prison at the same time, as we take on the role of a person unable to leave their own house.

Above all, psychological issues should play a role: the loss of a loved one, anxiety and depression. So Luto wants to tackle difficult topics. You can watch a trailer here:

The demo, now available on Steam, offers a little spooky experience, where we should already get to know the mood of the game. We can explore the spooky house for about half an hour to three quarters of an hour and have to solve small, simple puzzles.

Our focal point is a child’s room. At first glance, this looks like wild creativity with the picture-covered floor and painted walls. At second glance, or if we examine other rooms, we come across a dark secret.

The game is announced in the trailer for PC, PS4 and PS5, but the developers name “PC and consoles” under platforms. So it could be that it will also be announced for Xbox consoles.

What struck me the most in the demo was how overwhelming the house I was exploring felt. In some hallways you just can’t see the ceiling, only black streaks sticking out from there and chains hanging from above, rattling when I bump into them. Then there are the labyrinthine corridors. In terms of atmosphere, the experience scores for me, even if it’s more oppressive than scary.

In terms of story, however, the full game has yet to prove itself. The demo opens up an exciting plot line, which remains very vague – which is not unusual for a teaser, even if its story is supposed to be detached from the main story. However, I’m curious to see how Luto handles the difficult issues raised in the Steam description. This definitely requires a sure instinct.

Are you excited for the game or are you tired of scary houses?
