New World does its restart servers so well that hardly anyone wants to play on the old ones – must act now

New World desperately needs a feature overhaul if it's going to keep up its hype

The Fresh Start servers in New World, which went live on November 2nd, were a huge success for the MMORPG. However, so many players have started new that Amazon now has to merge some of the old servers.

On the legacy servers, i.e. the servers that existed before the restart, there is currently too little going on. That’s why Amazon has announced that it will merge them – This should happen on December 2nd at 8:00 a.m. German time. So exactly one month after the release of the restart servers.

Which servers are affected? These servers will be merged together:

  • Fae will soon be part of Niflheim
  • Tupia will soon be part of Asgard
  • Eden will soon belong to Olympus
  • Themiscyra and Frislandia will soon be part of Heliopolis
  • Eridu will soon be part of Delos
  • Aukumea will soon be part of El Dorado

13 of the 17 legacy servers are affected by the merge, on the rest there were still enough players to survive. So now there are only 8 of the original servers in New World.

5 tips if you want to start with New World in 2022

Player numbers are generally high

Anyone who now thinks that New World is dying out is wrong – at least for the time being. According to the site SteamDB almost 65,000 players were online at the peak of the last 24 hours. Many of these are probably on restart servers.

Apart from a new beginning together and a fresh economy, the developers brought some changes to New World with the new servers. The leveling process up to level 25 has been completely revised. These include adapted quests, shorter and more meaningful travel routes and exciting cutscenes set to music.

Amazon has also reduced the required experience points. From level 35 to 55 it is now much faster. So it wasn’t too difficult for veterans to catch up the level from the legacy server on restart.

Will there be server transfers? A transfer from and to restart servers is currently not possible. However, Amazon revealed that the servers will be opened for transfer at some point in the future. However, the new servers should never be merged with old ones.

What do you think of the legacy server merge? Is the server you are playing on affected? Or are you only on the restart servers? Write it to us in the comments here on MeinMMO!
