Amnesia – The Bunker: New series offshoot will be released in 2023
With Amnesia: The Bunker, a new branch of the well-known survival horror series will be released in March of next year. Again, the player sneaks through dark corridors in first-person perspective, always on the lookout for the next jump scare. But developer Frictional Games has also come up with some innovations for the title.
Amnesia: The Bunker sends you into the role of a French soldier in an abandoned WWI bunker. Always on the lookout for new tools and weapons, the player tries to obtain a glimmer of light in order to escape alive from the oppressive concrete underground world.
What’s new in Amnesia: The Bunker
Even if the basic ingredients with horror setting, survival elements, a first-person perspective and a story playing in the past remain identical to the predecessors, developer Frictional Games has come up with some innovations for the new offshoot of the series: The classic gameplay in the style of survival horror is not scripted and thus takes place in a kind of sandbox. According to the Swedish developer, you can also expect a “semi-open” open world, although it will become clear by the time of release at the latest what this means. The player will have to work under constant time pressure, monsters will be omnipresent in the world and react dynamically to the player’s actions. It also sounds extremely exciting that there should be different solutions for situations in the open world.

Statement from the developers about the game
“When you get your systems to work together just right, the player’s brain will be constantly busy planning, deliberating, and weighing every decision, knowing that it is their own actions that will lead to terrible consequences, or a great one reward,” said creative director Fredrik Olsson in an interview with PC Gamer. Amnesia: The Bunker is expected to be released in March 2023 for Steamin the Epic store as well as for Xbox and Playstation consoles.
