Mega flop in the cinema: Black Adam from DC lost so much money!
The superhero film Black Adam hit theaters in October this year and was directed by a huge marketing campaign accompanied. It should be a big hit for Warner Bros., instead looming a huge flop. The earnings of the DC adventure with the actor Dwayne Johnson in the main role washes namely by far less money in the coffers than hoped.
Black Adam a mega flop?
According to a recent report in Variety magazine, Black Adam (buy now ) a Loss of 50 to 100 million dollars roll in when it leaves theaters in a few weeks. Worldwide earnings to date amount to just over $384 million. What doesn’t sound like a complete disaster at first glance turns out to be a flop on closer inspection.
According to current estimates, the production costs for Black Adam are approx $195 million. In addition, there is an extensive marketing campaign that another $100 million has devoured. Everything is summed up the break-even mark for the superhero film at about $600 million. Anything below that would ultimately mean a loss for Warner Bros. What does this mean for Black Adam 2?
In October of this year there were numerous reports about a sequel to Black Adam. Apparently it’s already there a finished script before, a confrontation between the black-costumed hero and Henry Cavill as Superman was already in the post-credits scene of Black Adam hinted at as a teaser. However, after the financial disaster of the first film, the legitimate question arises as to whether Warner Bros. will actually take the risk another flop bring to the cinemas.
