Pokémon: In the 10th generation, it could go to the other end of the world

With Pokémon Crimson & Crimson, the ninth generation is just getting started. Nevertheless, we are already looking to the tenth generation and thus to an anniversary. Nintendo and the Pokémon Company could definitely come up with something special. So far, however, there is no information about this, but there is probably a first indication that affects the region. It could well be that we will end up in Australia in the next editions.

Australia probably teased as the next setting

That’s what it’s about: Pokémon Crimson/Crimson has been available for the Nintendo Switch since November 18th. In the Paldea region we also go to the academy and attend courses. In one of these courses, more precisely in the art room on the right wall, there is an interesting picture. This obviously shows Uluru (aka Ayers Rock), the famous mountain in Australia, and could be a teaser for the next region.

So we may be expecting a world that is based on Australia or the Down Under region, i.e. including New Zealand and the South Pacific islands.

Why does that sound plausible? That could well be apt, since Pokémon likes to be inspired by real places and countries. In addition, it is almost part of the fact that teasers for the next generation are already hidden in the editions. Most recently, in Pokémon Sword/Shield, we were already able to identify Spain and Portugal as the setting for crimson and purple through grapes and oranges on wallpaper and symbols.

What opportunities Australia offers

Let’s assume that Australia really serves as a model for the next region, things like the following could result from this:

  • The names of the editions could pick up on the concise sand red and ocean blue to stay with the colors.
  • Among the new Pokémon, possibly even starters or Legis, there would certainly be designs based on regional animals, such as crocodiles, kangaroos, koala bears, snakes and spiders.
  • The culture of the aborigines and the toxic flora and fauna could be addressed.
  • In addition to a lot of desert, there would also be picturesque stands, rule forests and large cities.
  • Uluru Mountain could be a central location, for example for a Legendary Pokémon.

Danger! The things mentioned are just ideas on our part, not any conclusions already drawn elsewhere from the Crimson/Purple painting. Either way: Enjoy the Australia topic with caution. For now, it’s just a rumor. We’re asking Nintendo about this.

But what do you think of Australia and Down Under as a setting for the next editions? Write us your opinion and wishes in the comments.
