Anyone interested can now pre-order the PSVR 2 headset.

The PSVR 2 headset was previously only available for pre-order by those who registered to pre-purchase. As a result, selected people received an invitation link that offered the opportunity to pre-order the PlayStation VR 2.

But after about a month there is now the opportunity for anyone interested to purchase a PSVR 2 headset. Sony has lifted the restriction that pre-orders can only be made via the invite link. The headset is now accessible to everyone.

Open PSVR 2 pre-order came as a surprise

Why did Sony remove the restriction? In order for the PSVR 2 to be available to a wider audience, it was only a matter of time before Sony lifted the purchase restriction. However, there has been no official announcement from Sony that the PSVR 2 is now available for sale to everyone.

Sony hasn’t released any numbers on how many PlayStation VR2 headsets have been pre-ordered so far. So we can’t draw any conclusions as to whether Sony has already started open sale because pre-orders have been so slow.

So far, Sony has been able to prevent one thing with the campaign: scalping. Because only selected people could pre-order a PSVR 2, there were only isolated cases in which the headset was offered at moon prices. It remains to be seen how the offer will change with the open sale now.

Have you been waiting for the PSVR 2 sale? Have you already secured a VR headset? Or are you not interested in the PS5 headset?
