The annual fan event was broadcast in nine languages and coincided with a separate Calpheon Ball in Korea for Black Desert Mobile and a “Voice of Adventurers” community event in the Netherlands to engage the global Black Desert community of Pearl Abyss to grow with 50 million players.

Twin sisters and classes Wusa and Maegu were introduced to more than 200 attendees at Ovation Square in Long Beach, Ca. Pearl Abyss featured detailed footage of Wusa’s magical Taoist fighting style, full of elegant moves and elemental combinations. The extensive live stream also showcased the beautiful new region, Land of Dawnlight, already populated with characters, monsters, and quests.

The team announced that older twin sister Maegu will be arriving on Black Desert Mobile on Tuesday December 13th, while younger twin sister Wusa will be appearing on both Black Desert Online (PC) and Black Desert starting Wednesday December 14th Desert for Console (PS4, Xbox One) is free to play.

Also on Wednesday, December 14th, console players will receive updates including the “One-On-One Battles Against Garmoth”, “Marni’s Secret Chamber” and the “Caphras’ Level Up”.

The twin classes present Wusa

Wusa took the spotlight at the streamed event, showcasing brand new gameplay footage of her special moves and fighting style. Dressed in traditional Korean attire that reflects her roots in the new region, the Land of Morning Light, her gentle, deceptive exterior contrasts with her badass inner personality. Wusa harnesses the power of ancient Taoist sorcery, which allows her to cast powerful elemental attacks and spells with her magical fan.

Featuring three key moves, Wusa is designed to withstand and fight the toughest enemies.

  • Rain shower: When Wusa swings her fan, she creates a huge storm that circles around her, dealing heavy damage to enemies in a wide area. With an impressive range, the ability is great for defeating larger monsters and bosses. It is particularly effective when combined with other skills.
  • dark cloud: Wusa creates a dark cloud over enemies’ heads, dealing extreme damage from rain and lightning. This ability is intensified with repeated use. The player can both activate and cancel the skill spontaneously. When canceled, it creates a dark cloud at the target location that deals damage from rain and lightning. This ability can be used in combos to deal additional damage to the opponent.
  • squall: Accompanied by a powerful, roaring sound, Storm Gust increases the range of the fan and deals relatively high damage to the enemy. This makes the talent a great combo tool. Players can use the skill twice in a row, increasing the area of damage (AOD) each time.

For more information on Wusa’s abilities, see the GM Notes on the Black Desert website.

Land of the Morning Light

Beginning in 2023, the Land of Dawnlight will be found in Black Desert. Inspired by the Joseon Dynasty, Korea’s last dynastic kingdom, this new region is based on ancient myths passed down through the generations. Myths like Zeus and Mount Olympus, King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, the Frog Prince and the Pied Piper are found together in one place.

Players will meet new NPCs, folklore, story quests, monsters, areas to explore, and creatures. Such as Sangun, the king of tigers, who rules over the high mountains of Taebaek, and Duoksini, the commander of the Dokkebi. The Haso location, which was previously the only eastern civilization in the world of Black Desert, has also been completely redesigned to be more accessible.

The “Land of Morning Light” is available in the trailer:

Calpheon Ball in South Korea reveals Black Desert Mobile news

Adventurers who attended the Calpheon Ball in Korea last Saturday saw first-hand footage and news from the Black Desert Mobile update, including the new character class, Maegu, and the new region, Sahazad. The popular mobile game will go live on Tuesday 3rd January with the twin Maegu and the Sahazad region.

The twin sister, Maegu, is a swift sorceress of the Jwado school who harnesses the power of a beautiful, magical fox to defend herself in battle. Her main weapon is the “horyeongbu,” which she uses to attack her enemies with a smoothness similar to the way a gumiho would charm another human.

The developers have introduced the expanded area “The Great Desert: Sahazad”. In this vast area, adventurers can, among other things, fight against other players (PvP), obtain rare items from a wandering merchant who discovers treasures buried in the sand, or upgrade Black Spirit runes with glow crystals.

Finally, players can obtain the second “Dream Horse”, Diné. Diné is a beautiful white horse with a golden mane who runs through the desert as fast as the wind. Quantum Leap can also be used by going to a Black Stone Shrine. Added various other innovations including Apocros (a new field boss), Dawnrise Vanguards (turn-based strategy family content similar to Path of Glory), Level 9 Camp and more.
