Pokémon GO: Guide to Community Day in December 2022 – How to use the event

In Pokémon GO, the double Community Day runs this weekend from December 17th to 18th, 2022. You can catch a whole range of Pokémon there. We look at the start, bonuses and all the information that is important for the event.

This is the event: Community Day takes place every month in Pokémon GO and always focuses on a specific monster.

However, the December event is a special case: It runs for two days and brings all the monsters from the Community Days of 2022 and 2021 again.

Thus, a whole series of monsters spawn that you can encounter in the wild, but they can also be found in eggs and raids. Here we show you everything at a glance.

Community Day December 2022 – Start, time and bonuses

In addition, it was announced before Community Day that Pokémon storage will now be increased to 6,200 slots. So you can increase it with the space extension from the shop if you have already reached the maximum.

Beware of bonus times: There is currently conflicting information regarding the times of the bonus.

• The Pokémon GO official site clarifies that most bonuses only run from 2pm to 5pm, with the exception of the two swap bonuses. These two bonuses are said to run from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (via pokemongolive.com).
• The page pokemon.com however, says that all bonuses will run from 09:00 to 21:00.

It is currently unclear which information is correct. We will keep you up to date at this point. According to the current status, however, to be on the safe side, you should be prepared for the fact that the majority of the bonuses only run from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in order to avoid disappointment.

All Community Day December 2022 spawns – Saturday & Sunday

When do which Pokémon spawn? In principle, the event Pokémon can appear on both days between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. – i.e. also outside of the actual times.

In the wild you will meet the monsters of the Community Days from this year, 2022. However, there are different strengthened spawns in the wild from day to day.

Can the monsters be shiny? Yes, all available event Pokémon can appear in the shiny version. The chance is increased during the event.

You will not meet the Community Days 2021 monsters in the wild, but you can get them from 2 km eggs or in raids. We list them all here.

All special attacks for Community Day 2022 at a glance

How do you get the attacks? There are special attacks for the latest evolutions of the event monsters. So you need to collect enough candies to evolve the monsters in order to get the moves – because you only have time to get them this weekend.

Important: The attacks occur on both days, but only between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. So evolve the monsters Not on the night between Saturday 9:00 p.m. and Sunday 9:00 a.m.

This is how you make the most of Community Day in December 2022

Prepare well: What fundamentally applies to every Community Day also applies in December:

• Start the day with enough Poké Balls
• Creates enough storage space to avoid having to send monsters in between

It is best to use the Pokémon GO filter function when sorting out and let your weaker monsters be displayed using the “0*,1*,2*” filter.

Which items are worthwhile? Basically, a full set of items can be quite useful, especially on this Community Day, after all there are bonuses to stardust and XP and many different monsters to catch. Accordingly, it is worth maximizing:

• A smoke for 3 hours
• Lure modules when you are in one place for a long time
• Star Piece and Lucky Egg for more XP

Depending on what Pokemon you want, you’ll also need to resort to Raid Passes and Incubators.

Tip: In the shop there is currently a box for 375 coins, which contains 5 incubators and 5 super incubators. You can only buy it once, but the price is unusually low. If you are after the monsters from the eggs, or want to use the half-distance bonus for 10km, 12km or 7km eggs on Community Day, the box can be worthwhile.

In addition, pineapple berries can provide you with more candies. This could be particularly useful on this Community Day, as not just one specific monster will show up, but many different ones. If you only have one thing in mind, it’s worth focusing on it when you catch it and feeding it with pineapple berries.

Watch out for the attack on Crypto monsters: Some of this C-Day’s Pokémon are also available as Crypto variants. If you’re only after candies for your Crypto monsters, pay attention to the Pokémon’s attack when evolving: If you haven’t removed Frustration yet, your monster will get Not the event move.

Which monsters are worth it? The field is pretty broad, and some Pokémon are more useful than others. Basically, if you’re missing one of the monsters in your collection, grab it for the Pokédex.

Otherwise a short overview of interesting monsters:

• Kapuno becomes Hydreigon, a very strong Dark attacker for raids. Definitely worth it.
• Kaumalat becomes a top ground attacker as Garchomp, worth it too.
• Dratini continues to be a very strong monster as a Dragonite.
• Hydropi becomes Sumpex, a powerful raider & Battle League attacker. Also, it has a Mega Evolution which is very strong.
• Bulbasaur and the Bisaflor development are no longer rare, but if you don’t have it yet, you get a strong monster – especially in the crypto version.
• Walraisa is a good option, especially in Battle League.
• Skelabra can convince as a spirit and fire attacker in raids, but needs other attacks.
• Machollo has a lot of uses as a Machamp, but needs a fighting attack rather than the event move “Return” and is only in raids.

Depending on which Pokemon you particularly want, it may be worth Mega Evolving the same type for C-Day. Then there are extra candies for every catch.
