Hogwarts Legacy Game Time: This is how long it takes you for story and side missions

That's how long you need for story and extras in Hogwarts Legacy.

That’s how long you need for story and extras in Hogwarts Legacy.

Hogwarts Legacy wants to offer us a massive open world with numerous activities that will allow us to pass the time. But even those who only want to complete the main story will be occupied with the game for quite a while. In an interview with Game Designer Kelly Murphy and Narrative Lead Moira Squier, we asked how many days off Hogwarts Legacy should we take?

How long is Hogwarts Legacy?

  • main story: around 40 hours
  • completionists: 100 to 120 hours

So we’re already pretty busy with the main story alone – and that’s true if we completely ignore side missions. On the other hand, if you really want to experience everything in the game, it will take three times as long, depending on your individual playing style. Accordingly, we can probably expect a playing time of 55 to 60 hours for the main story and the most important side missions, which is quite considerable.

Lots of missions: That’s not surprising, after all, Hogwarts Legacy offers something 150 missions, around 100 of which are side missions. How long you need for the tasks should vary in each case. In our preview, for example, we were able to complete a mission in less than 5 minutes. However, we expect that there will also be longer missions.

You can read our detailed impression after we were able to play Hogwarts Legacy in the preview:

Further activities: In addition to the missions, there should also be more to do in the open world. For example, we can save animals, take part in broom races, explore villages, wipe out bandit camps, complete puzzles in the form of the Trials of Merlin and search houses and caves for treasure.

More on Hogwarts Legacy:

There was already a leak that revealed the alleged trophy list for Hogwarts Legacy. If the rumor is true, platinum hunters will probably have a lot to do. According to the list, there are trophies that you only get if you belong to one of the four Hogwarts houses. So if you want to go platinum, you might have to play through the game up to four times. That would mean 160 hours for the story alone.
