The Dead Space Remake was released the day before yesterday and was able to convince the critics. Screenshots and trailers showed the clear differences to the original in advance. In the meantime, more extensive comparison videos are also circulating.

Almost 15 years after the release of the original, Electronic Arts released the Dead Space remake a few days ago for consoles and PC. Since then, the horror title has been able to be played extensively with outdated graphics and a new technical substructure. A more detailed comparison video shows how clear the difference is compared to the original thanks to more modern technology and additional resources.

This was published by the Spanish-language YouTube channel ElAnalistaDeBits and juxtaposes the two titles in split-screen. The already obvious changes in terms of textures, level of detail, lighting and effects are shown.

In addition, EA Motive has also upgraded other aspects of the game compared to the Visceral Games template. According to ElAnalistaDeBits, the remake is easier to control overall without deviating too drastically from the original gameplay. Gunplay is also included here. While the better and more realistic sound creates a more immersive atmosphere. Ultimately, the loading times are also significantly shorter, which means fewer elevator rides used for this in the original, while the monorail rides are also faster.

Die-hard Dead Space veterans don’t miss out either. With the new dismemberment system and revised game physics, the gameplay in the fight with necromorphs also changes. Not only new enemy types, but also more difficult battles are on the program. There are also new paths within the game sections that invite exploration, while additional dialogue and gameplay further embellish the story.

The Dead Space remake has been available since January 27, 2023 for PC, Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S. The game is offered at full price, which means that the consoles cost 79.99 euros each. The game is available on PC for €59.99. Optionally, the 10 euro more expensive Deluxe Edition can also be used, which contains additional skins for the protagonist Isaac Clarke’s suit. In addition, EA Play members receive a discount on purchases in the Sony and Microsoft console stores, among others.

Meanwhile, this is unnecessary on the PC if you subscribe to EA’s Play Pro service. It includes Dead Space Remake as a Deluxe Edition and can be fully played for the duration of the subscription. Incidentally, there is no 10-hour trial version included in the basic EA Play subscription in the case of Dead Space, so there is no getting around buying the console version without first playing it.
